What Detector do you use??

I am just looking to get a feel for the percentages of usage for each detector. And seeing how many people do not list it in their signatures, this is the only way to know. everyone please vote

Well...Went to RX65 then to V1...didn't care for the V1 and now back to the RX65. If quality control at Bel was only higher it would dominate

It is also my opinion that this thread may help new members, as it will allow them at a glace, to tell how many forum members are using each detector.

Althought I believe that the Rx65 is an awesome detector,in fact, when I started learning about detectors...that is the one I wanted. But when It comes right down to it the 8500 wins simply because of features(blue display, multiple threat counter). So I don't know about everyone else...but that's the reason for me personally

Simple reasoning...the X50 is EASIER TO COME BY, by far..........not everybody out there is smart enough to buy from Roy...right

like Me I got mine BEFORE coming into this board, I got my X50 from Best Buy

You can only find the Bel Pro series at some SMALL AMOUNT of specialty stores, and of course on-line and factory direct, but its all about the convenience of driving to like Best Buy and picking it up then and there

My radio shack doesn't even have any bels in store it would be an order. And even sharper image sells the escort units.

Exactly............Escorts are a bit more widespread than Bels, its just a fact really

The RS stores around my do stock RDs, mostly Cobras and Whistlers......the occasional Bel, the biggest ive seen there are V995s, and thats only once, mostly all I see are the Express Series

Im REALLY surprised that the Valentine isnt outnumbering the X50s though, but the funny thing is that those are the MOST LIMITED in terms of sales...those mediums are Factory-Direct, and Second-hand (Used)

Well a big reason is quality control. A lot of Radar detector users have moved over to the V1 because they are sick of service required and self cal messages on the Belscorts. I believe you will find a lot of members using the V1 because it is the most DURABLE of all detectors....bar none

another reason why here in a few months i will most likely be going back to get another V1 for my personal use and sell the x50 to my dad... it is durableand a helluva detector... just wish it didnt cost so much.... and i hope the quit revising it so often... three revisions in the past month is causing concern to me

Agreed..... I should have stock in ups for how many times ive had to return detectors... yet the clear winner in time it took to get there, and how many times sent in is the x50

Man, I would be pissed if I paid $300+ for a RD that had poor reliability. If V1's don't suffer from the same sort of reliability issues as many Belscorts seemingly do, than V1 definitely exceeds Bel/Escort now in my eyes.

But I agree QC is bad....like my X50 works perfectly, just passed the 1 year mark, and I mean its all good still, no Self Cal, no Service required, and all that other lacking performance stuff, I think I got a good one so ill stick with it

Correct but there has been cases where the V1 justs stops detecting with no E. Justs seems normal but detects nothing. A fella posted about 6 months ago about his V1 doing this. Very very seldom does this happen but just wanted to put it out there

A radar detector can fall out of calibration if exposed to extreme heat. This is the number 1 reason for the RX65 and the X50 to get self cal messages. As far as the V1...you are right....The V1 is much more durable as said before...but it should be at 400 dollars

Ive left my X50 in the blazing Texas sun in my Black car every day for about a year..........no self cal yet!!!, i seem to just have a good X50 i guess

i'd get worried if it doesn't alert to usual falses with any detector, but at least the bel/escorts lets you know ahead of time something's about to go wrong

I've had my X50 for a little over 2 years now and have never had a Self Cal. However, Escorts QC does need to step it up a notch. It seems they're two kinds of people when it comes to Bels and Escorts, the Lucky ones that never have any issues and the Unlucky ones that have one Problem detector after another. I got lucky on mine and didn't recieve a lemon. I have to admit though, I do baby mine. I take it out of the window durning the day and bring it inside at night. I've heard of others doing the same and still recieving the Self Cals. No one knows what causes them but I'm extremely glad I got a good one.

One of the main reasons I chose the X50 was for the multi thread dispaly, I can't live without it !!!! In my town cops love to sit infront of known falsing spots and use X or K ( Mainly K ). The multi thread gives them up fairly quick and gives me time to react.

I would like to try a V1 someday and I'm sure that will be my next detector purchase. I've heard good and bad things about the V1 but honestly you never know until you try one.

I was definately a lucky one, ive TORTURED the poor thing with sunlight all the time and i still have no problems

if that was a baby it'd have either died or id be in jail for child abuse by now

I checked the other Bel catagory. As noted in my signature section, I'm still using a Bel 980 and it's still doing it's job well. :)
