Fast Start-up's - Better or Worse?

Hey guys,

Something ive been curious about for a while now is whether or not the option selected as START-FST (fast) fast or similar on different models, as opposed to the STD (standard) startup, makes any difference to the detection range or overall operation of the detectors.

We all know that after a while, you get a bit peeved off by hearing the startup sequence each time you get in your car as it runs through the bands and does its 'thing'.

Has anyone actually tested this out? to see if there is any difference in performance of a fast startup?

Im 99.9% confident its simply there for 'show', but theres always one user in these forums with that .1 of a % that has an opposite opinion or result through testing.

no I think it just cuts the annoying and loud start-up display with its noises, i dont think it should affect anything else

I kinda like the regular startup, just gives me a little sencse of security that my X50 is working.

I have mine on fast startup, just so I don't have to listen to all of the bands at first.....I did read in the manual that the startup is a self test though..not sure if this is true, or if it makes any difference, but I wondered the same thing as you did!

Well let's get some testing and an answer!

And let's email tech reps for the different brands to see what they have to say!

the only thing i've noticed is that it still takes about the same amount of time for the detector to alert to signals after startup. even though the fast startup is quicker, and the unit seems ready, it still isn't until about the same time that it would be ready in the normal startup.
performance i haven't seen any difference.

my 1st rx-65 i had set to fast...but this detector gave me service required messege within a week....my new one i lhave set to standard and its fine....did it break my last detecor? probably not but i feel better :D
