you don't need to worry about pop, but all 3 of those detectors are capable of detecting POP effectively. it really depends on where you live. If laser is your primary concern (which it most likely isn't), go for the v1. If K/Ka is your primary concern, you probably will want the x50 or the rx65, both are outstanding with outstanding filtering compared to the v1 which can lead you to ignore most alerts with it's falsing.
V1- Pros: outstanding laser and K detection, rear antenna, arrows, size makes for easy mounting
Cons: arrows are only necessary because of the rear antenna which really isn't necessary, imho. excessive falsing, lack of sensitivity on Ka band compared to others, outdated display/design, programming isn't simple, coiled cord is too short for high mounting
X50- Pros: great all around detection/range, superior filtering which is crucial. By far the best display with it's expert display (better than the v1's "bogey counter" and more advanced), easy programming
Cons: problems mounting due to length- it rattles against windshield and vibrates.
RX65- Pros: outstanding Ka detection, great K detection, superior filtering, display similar to the x50 though not as good on the expert meter (threat display), easy programming, size makes for easy mounting.
Cons: laser detection isn't the best

I would say X50 or rx65. i went with the rx65 and have NOT been disappointed. Ka has been pretty good with this RD and ka is becoming quite popular so i feel it is important to protect yourself against it with the best protection. so far, i don't think the v1 is as good.

no i did not miss that thread, i just thought a poll would help a lot more then just having to keep count on how manny ppl say what detector. so i just started a pool..

Things have changed from last year, so that poll is way outdated.
Also people were talking about laser mostly. And really choosing one of the top 3/4 only on laser would be a little bit pointless because they all are good at laser (mostly X50 and V1).

This a question that cannot be correctly answered by anyone!!!
every user has their own unique needs and wants out of a detector.
My personal needs happened to be best met by the V-1, While others found that the RX-65 & the X50 best met their unique needs.
Do the research, after determining where you will be using the detector the most (meaning city or open highway) each has it's own niche IMHO,
if you want to know where the siganl is coming from, choose the V-1, if you want to know which (almost exact ) frequency the threat is, then choose the x-50 or the rx-65.
it is all according to peronal needs, one person cannot make an educated decision for another person unless they live in the exact same area, and have the same driving habits, and have the same exact wants & needs.
as for performance, they are all even with some minor trade-offs.

X2 None of us can tell you what detector is going to work best for you. We all have our favorites based on our experiences, but that means nothing about what is best for you. The only thing that you can do is look at the features, and decide which one you would like to try.

Well get an X50 and you can get Service Required and Seld Cal.
I know I've had to have Escort replace 2 defective X50's I've owned.
Some % of all radar detectors made have problems no matter know makes them.

How about a poll on the RD with most problems!

How about a poll on the RD with most problems!
It wouldn't be accurate. To find out how bad a problem is we would have to compare the % of trouble units. Some detectors are sold more than others and could have more reported problems just because there are more of them. The only way to compare would to take a % and not a total #. Not possible with a poll on here.
