so my uncle's b-day is today and i just got back from his house, anyway his high school buddy whos a wisconsin highway patrol was there and we ran out of chips so my uncle says hey max lets take your car so i was fine with that so my uncle, dan(the leo) and i get in my car and as soon as i turn the car on the detector turns on and dan in the back seat goes, "oh jeez, not you too" and i said what, "your one of those detector users, do you know how many people i catch speeding with these?" well anyway when we got back i took him to this site and than showed him some pics of rd's and asked if hes seen this one and so on..., so long story short i showed him a couple pics of the cobras and he goes "yep i've seen these,the ones with the white lettering that says COBRA with the snake thing, ive seen alot of these" i showed him pics of higher end bels,escort and v1 and he goes "nope i havent seen these before are they new or somthing?" i rest my case :wink:

Wonder why he's never seen them before....hmmmmm.....I suspect that he has not seen them before because only 1 in 10 people use a radar detector, and most of those are cobra or whistler. When I'm driving I'm always looking for detectors in cars, and to date I have only seen 2 Valentines, and 1 Escort. the high end detectors are relatively rare

I've seen 1 X50 and 2 v1's.

:-D I am also always on the lookout - I'm sure I've seen others but I don't recognize them all that well yet so perhaps a few more 8500's and such

In my neck of the woods I see a lot of x50's and V1's its about 50/50, my home is in a relatively nice part of town and I have noticed that a lot of the mid-life-crisis men and their sports cars have V1's and college age people with tight budgets, like myself, use x50's and Solo 2's. A couple of the kids who obviously have a lot of money (16 year olds with M3's and such) have V1's most likely because they believe that price tag equals performance and mom and dad shelled out the 400 for 'em (not bashing, it just might be true I just cant afford it). Every single RD I see in my neighborhood is mounted incorrectly though, all of em are either down low behind the wipers or taking pictures of sattelites in low earth orbit, sad to see a good piece of machinery not being used to its full potential.

As of yet, I still have not seen a jammer on any cars in my area.
