My detector will not mount in a straight line beside the rear view and doesn't have enought space between the roof line and the mirror so I decided to mount right under it. The detection is outstanding...... Mount High and get a Jammer if your worried about laser.

This is where my V1 is except on the otherside of the mirror, and I have since upgraded to a 1.8 and rewired it a few times.

heres mine, I did a more detailed writeup of the smart cord instal in the escrot forum a month ago so I will spare the details its pretty self explainatory really...

and this is the best picture I could find of the mounting location, its under the mirror to save some laser sensitivity and I am unsure if the tint is metal...

I will post another pic when I get the V1 in the next couple of weeks, payday is coming soon...

I want to hardwire my X50 but I would never be able to do what Arashi did... Holy $hit man thats alot of work... Very clean install though. I really need to hardwire mine soon so it doesnt look tacky with that cord just hanging from under my RVM all the way down to the cig lighter 3 spliter I have mounted in my car by my leg. I must keep the smart cable though, i like that mute button by my leg way to much, its just nice to have. Thanks for starting this post Criticize, the pics that people have been showing are VERY HELPFUL to me. 8) 8) 8) 8) 8)

Well, I only have a lowly Bel 945, for now. But I got really weary of the coiled cord going all the way up to the rearview. Didn't want to wait for the flat cord to come from Bel, nor pay their price for it... So I got some ends from RS and soldered them on to some medium weight spkr. wire.
So this is what I ended up with:
from passenger outside:

from rear passenger inside:

From driver side rear seat:

And cheesy lighter socket... I didn't want to tap in to fuse block yet as I will prolly end up with a V1 eventually, and maybe an AL.:

Wiring goes from RD up to under the headliner; left, to under the pillar cover; down, to the fuse access door; and back to the right, to the ashtray door.
Not as clean as I'd like... but it's pretty clean for a temporary semi- hardwire.

Guys,
Does it somehow affect detection if I installed my BEL up side down?
Is signal from radar polarized?
Thx

It shouldnt matter as long as it is level with the road and pointed straight ahead, seems like it would be hard to read the display though. If you dont mind me asking, what are you trying to accomplish with it upside down as opposed to right side up?

apparantly the STi can be mounted inverted, and the display can be set to inverted as well, im assuming its so that you can hve iton the roof out of sight and still have access to the buttons

thats ingenous!!! What a smart person to think about that. Concealment is key in areas like D.C and Virginia.

I thought It's obvious
RD usually has flat bottom and curved top with buttons.
I’m planning to attach it to visor using Velcro.
So, I can perfectly level it and still have access to all buttons.
As for display, I have only LEDs in my BEL795.
And BTW I don’t usually pay attention to display, just listen to it.
Every band has their own sound.
