big hello to everyone :D hope this is in the right spot for starters

first of all i've just bought the BEL vector 995 and am waiting for its arrival (come on roy i can't wait to test it out) and after reading heaps of articles on the websites and the forum post's i just wanted to know a few things .....

1. is the Bel 995 the best for Australian roads?
2. is it better for my state WA (western australia) cause some people say the whistler top of the range model is best for auz
3. will it go off like crazy on service station automatic doors(and shopping centre doors) like my undien banditt 55 does don't laugh it works great picks up almost anything anywhere no good for the city stuff but great for the outback open roads wheir thiers nothing for 100's of miles(dam thing doesn't pick up kangaroo's though)
4. will i be able to use it while im driving my taxi cause i've read in the forums that some people are having trouble with thier detectors giving off false alerts from LED and infrared lights up close we have camera's in the taxi that use infrared lights (2 of them 1 near the rear view mirror the other right next to the interior light) will this affect it somehow?
5. and last of all a friend bought a Bel 950 which i could not find on Roy's website and he swears by it that it has saved him so many times its paid for itself the first week and that he gets stuff all false alerts and it detects certain radars from side on (i think this must mean it has 360" protection)he says it goes off ,can't see anything anywere ,turns the corner and like 100 metres down the road thiers a flash camera radar can it do this ?

thanks for any help that can be giving to these questions please add anything else you can think of aswell that would help over here in Auz keep up the good work

P.S can't help but feel sorry for them eastern stater's (VIC NSW QLD) i'm pretty sure that my state WA is the only one in the country that doesn't have a ban on radar detectors lol i just read an article that cetain states are using radar detector detector's and fineing people on the spot $1000 for having one in the car,off or on doesn't matter plus a $1000 again if they don't hand it over to police right thier and then lol :P

500 to 1000 now! I think it is $500 first infraction and $1 000 second infraction? But then they put all the "victim tax" and it's more like 625 - 1300!

Yeah I don't know what to do now... I still always have my jacket on the passenger seat though...

Radar reflects off stuff easily. That's how it works pretty much. So a radar source can bounce it's signal right into your detector no matter where you are. But the Bel detectors are only looking forward.

I don't know if RD are legal to operate in WA. I know they are legal to sell...

In WA they use the Multanova photo radar (34.3Ghz KA), and most detectors don't do well on it.

The X50 performed a tad better than the RX65, and better than the V1. Note this was not the V1 with the new EUR mode, but the prior model. I would hope the new V1 EUR performed better, but haven't tested it yet.

Anyway, i'd get the X50 if i was you.

thanks so far for the reply's but i still need help on the Bel 995 for use in Australia and should i turn of X mode because i've heard it is no longer used in Auz ? is it also really that easy to programme settings for takeing bands of and ajusting stuff ?

p.s anyone know how long it takes to arrive from the US to Auz in days from the time of the order going through?

I have a 995, in Tom Price, turn the X band off, no longer in use, you will pick up every servo, shop, anything with the sliding doors, its easy to programme, you should get instructions with it. I pick up K band over hills in town, a good kilometre away, i use it on the long trips to Perth, in the city its continually going off, you have to get used to your area, and where the multanovas are etc.
