We had a couple users in the past comment about radar detectors in Italy and the overwelling responce was that they liked the Bel 975R the best, as it did a better job at detecting the photo cameras that you have there.

The RX65 is the best as far as I am concerned for the USA, but not overseas. The eqipment that you have there is much different then in the states, mainly the photo radar cameras that operate on low power Ka band.

i'll test it in italy becouse i know a lots of autovelox ad cameras places (with the help of a project of PointOfInterest in TomTom navigator)...

then i could give a conclusion...

any one from italy or europe?

Well, I have the Valentine 1 and I ran across a Multanova on the main highway from Milan towards Venice. The warning came up at about 400 meters so there was enough time to slow down. Since the RX65 has the same performance as the Valentine 1 I think youīll be just fine.

I know that AutoVelox is a most popular speed trap in Italy, mainly because it is an Italian product. The AutoVelox is not a radar or even a laser! It is an obstacle speed measurement device with a photo camera and flash. It has two light emitters which are mounted on a tripod and oriented so they emit light beams across the road at 90 deg. angle. The light emitters are spaced 0,5m apart. The computer of the thing calculates the time between vehicle disrupting the first light beam and crossing the second one. If the time/speed is too short/great the photo of the back of the car is taken and alert is given.

In short, standard countermeasures don't work with AutoVelox, only good sight will help you to see it in time.

i'm also using tomtom with pointofinterest of all autovelox for security and i want to use photoblocker for a little bit security :D

what do you think about that?

- Bel RX65 against RADAR&LASER
- TOMTOM with database against AUTOVELOX
- PHOTOBLOCKER for a little bit security with autovelox...

what do you think about that?

- Bel RX65 against RADAR&LASER

There are 3 kind of radars at your country as I know: 10.525GHz (X); 24.150GHz (K); 34.360GHz (Ka Narrow). According to my experiences with RX-65 it could detect K Band radar from 300m (front)/125m (behind). It could detect Ka Band radar from 250m (front)/90m (behind). I haven't any experiences with X Band.

Lasers are very different, most cases you're measured at the same time when you get a warning. If jammers are legal in Italy you should buy Blinder to avoid your license, otherwise you need an LT-400.

X band isnīt used in Italy anymore as far as I know. Lod, I come from Slovenia, if that helps you in any way :) . The only countermeasure for the Autovelox trap would be a photo radar cover. Roy can sell you one.

http://www.traveltech.hu/Kepek/LT400_1.jpg
LT-400 is a Laser Remote Control system - officially. The previous version was LRC-100 which is the same as Lidatec LE-20. It is an active laser system which responding to the incoming beam. If you use Blinder (or other infrared-based jammer) then laser guns can't measure you but some of them display an error message 'E14' or 'JAMMED'.

I think that BEL's LP-905 is very similar than Blinder M30, it use infrared LEDs for jamming as I know.

Sorry buddy, I donīt speak italian, since I come from Ljubljana. I am interested in learning it though. I always put the detector on the dash and Iīve never had problems (was passed by about 20 police cars on the route from the Fernetti border crossing to Varese, including several unmarked - no problems whatsoever). It does strike me as odd, though. The Target Automotive web site ( http://www.target-automotive.nl ) lists radar detectors as legal in Italy. As for laser jammers like I said in another topic, Iīd suggest something made by Target or Lidatek, as well as the Escort ZR3 (tested by the Germans, doesnīt give away a JAMMED notice). Investing in a can of Veil might also be a good idea - even with Veil by itself the distance can be greatly impaired for the laser operator, giving you precious time to slow down.

tnx a lot for all your support...

i guarantee you that radar detectors is illegal in italy since 2000 :(

but it's not a problem...my Bel RX65 will camouflage like a GPS receiver ... :D eheheheh...

so if probably zr3 and bel lp905 has the same hardware...it's a good product for italy?

Yes, itīs a good product. Although, if covering your license plate isnīt forbidden you could invest in a Laser shield plate cover and Veil, coat it from both sides, coat the headlights and other reflective surfaces and the officer wonīt be able to target you until youīre closer than 200 meters. How much closer depends on your car - if itīs dark, you could be looking at around 100 meters or under. And the best part is that Sergio de la Polizia would be scratching his balls, wondering what the hell just jammed his gun

My canadian friend is just joking here

It is a common thing to prefer foreign cars over national once...dont know why  ...same thing is almost anywhere else...

But I was just testing you... dont shot me now...

btw: I am the president of the Bulgarian Alfa Romeo Club...so now you can forgive me 8) for testing you.

On the radar thingy...A friend of mine studies in Torino and has been fined a few times...never had to pay the fine...he drives on bulgarian plates...not the same story in Germany though.

I love driving in Italy...especially small mountain roads.
