HI,I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF SOMEBODY KNOWS IF IN ITALY I CAN USE THE COBRA XRS 9330 FOR DETECTING ( Autovelox 105 SE,Autovelox 105 SE in Autobox
THIS PHOTO RADAR IS COMMONLY USED IN ITALY,IN WORKS BY PASSING BEHIND ITS 2 PHOTOCELLS THE FIRTS CELL ACTIVATES THE RADAR AND SO ON.
I WHANT TO KNOW IF THE DETECTOR WARNS ME EVEN IF ANOTHER CAR BEHIND ME ACTIVATES THE RADAR.

CAPS mate
An RD will help, but as for letting you know in time, that's hard to tell. It all depends on how fast your going too. Your best bet is to cover your rego plate, that will reduce that chance of reading your tag. Roy sells some great stuff and can help you out. Below....
The Toll Free Protector
Toll Cameras uses a special high angle camera and computer technology to photograph the back and front of your vehicle as you slipped by. Based on the results a ticket is then issued to the owner of the vehicle.
The Toll Free Protector also is the most effective cover made today for the photo radar and red light cameras....
Hope this helps.

autovelox is not photo radar, but more like photo-vascar .it uses two infrared beams on the sides and it times you as the car passes throgh, it cannot be detected, the only countermeasure you have is don't speed

Tell me your joking  How do you think they find out who owns the car, by the colour? No, rego tag. Make this hard to photo and that's your fix bright spark

Does anyone know the autovelox wavelength (in nm)?
Thanks

sorry mate but if you don't believe me check this out

(i hope this isn't against the rules)
like I stated above a good conutermeasure for the fixed ones is to have a good gps system but the one's that are mobile (in minivan parked to the side) you're SCREWED. I hope companies come out with some sort of a jammer or maybe a good license plate cover

I don't speak Italian
Maybe someone from that Italian web site knows
The autovelox wavelength (in nm)?
Thanks

It's a very clever system.
You can't jam ot detect it in advance. GPS location is a good countermeasure for fixed sites. GPS location can help slightly for common mobile sites but it really only like a best guess. If they move 100 yards down the street your common mobile site warning is useless.

It uses normal infrared, for as far as I know. Maybe a backflasher might work?
Further: have to agree on what WRC says. Have seen it at the Intertraffic Amsterdam. It is a scary system.

We have it in Spain, it is the worst system of all. To date, you cannot detect it nor jam it.
It uses two perpendicular infrared beams (with different pulse frecuencies each mind you), a third beam tells the distance to the car so as to be able tell in which lane the car is and automaticaly move the camera to take its picture, so it controls several lanes at one.
Has two digital cameras that take two high-def digital photographs at the same time, one a close up of only the target vehicle and clear view of plates and one wideangle to place the car within the road and sorruondings.
It does not need flash to operate during the day, only in dark conditions, in fact it can be set up to take pictures of ALL cars passing by, whether they were speeding or not (I have seen this done) and select afterwards the infractors. Since flash is not used for the photo, drivers passing by never know if they had their pic taken or not.
It can be used to detect tailgating as well by obtaining the distance between cars.
It can distinguish between trucks and cars and automatically applies diffrent speedlimit setting if need be.
It can be set up inside an unmarked car (camera goes behind front windshield, and laser beams go out rear-side window). It can be set up on a tripod on the side of the road behind a bin or parked car, or bridge column, etc. Or can be set up on a fixed cabin on the side of the road (in this case since its fixed it can be detected via GPS).
And I can go on and on... if you never heard of the Autovelox 105SE, consider yourself lucky.

Sorry for resuming this post, but i think it very useful in europe since the speed measurement and speed traps from police are most of the times set up with autovelox (autovelox 104; 105, and both can be placed on the "autobox" containers) using perpendicular to the road lasers to measure speed and distance (it can check multiple lanes) and other system using induction loops burried on the road (traffiphot/traffipax)....
The only countearmesure seems to be prediction using GPS and POIs, but in fact with that noone can detect the mobile autovelox / induction loops and eventually get screwed by them.
I know that some of them have a wireless connection to teh cam supposed to take the picture, and probably it can be jammed, no way to jam the cable conection tho.
I can remember of a good product that was discontinued, the VF3 and VF4 photo jammer by "Tiger Lily" (earlier models were VF1 and VF2) it basically detected infrared autofocus beams, and flashes shooted to the car and emitted several powerful flashes on the license plate solarizing and overexposing it, thus in the picture the plate area appeared white making any identification impossible.
And once again this system while effective against infrared autofocus camera and flash shooting camera, becomes ineffective against videocamera taken movies and OOCR plate character reading (which use by LE is rapidly growing, Elsag auto detector and Provida)
About plate covering is illegal in italy to place anything to cover the plate (even transparent protections) nor coatings, tampering with the plate means you get your car confiscated.
We must find a way to beat those damend machines and get rid of em :D

gotta love the technology out there
can anyone give me some gps location of the autovelox spedtraps ?
thanks
use PoiGPS - Punti di Interesse per Navigatori Satellitari (http://www.poigps.com) for the italian autovelox database!
