OK this actually happened and I just wanna know if any of you actually believe me, because when I told my brother he was all like "It could take you dont even try" and all that shi* he's usually spouting out his hateful @$$hole mouth

OK on the way home from classes tonight (less than an hour ago) about 9PM and im driving along and catch a glimpse of a DC5 (Acura RSX) to my back left........ well we go from that light and this guy shoots out behind me after geting ahead of the other guy that used to be behind me and then I decide "no F*** that", and I take off running, we meet at a light side-by-side and we all know what happens next, I put my shifter into 1st so as I can cycle the gears "manually" and its off, I start to get a bit ahead and he catches up, were on equal terms all the way through my 1st and 2nd gears (0 to about 70) and then into 3rd where my gears get ALOT wider he starts to pull ahead, barely, but hes geting there and decides to pass a car in his way utilizing the left turn lane seeing as how i'm blocking the right side and its a 2 lane road (2 per direction with center turn lane.... SH 26 for those that know) he finally gets ahead as i back off and get in behind him

for a fellow RD user he was surprisingly complacent as the rabbit going 65/45..... anyways hes got an infinity sticker on the back window and had a decently thumpin system from what I heard over my music at the light.... so in this case had I had a Manual tranny with narower gears I might have been able to stay ahead longer..... he barely pulled away and heres the surprising facts:

Stock DC5 is more powerful and lighter than my tank of a CL, I heard a terrible exhaust note from his car so im assuming intake/exhaust...... while im running I/H/E and new MSD performance spark plug wires on those new Bosch Iridium Fusion plugs................ so my "minor" mods made up for the power difference along with the weight difference pretty well from what I just saw

now back to the question.......... do you believe this??????

It's an RSX not a Ferrari. Hell they are almost the same size no? Doesn't mean he was pounding on it either.

stock-for-stock im about 5-600 lbs heavier (curb weight)

im sure he was going flat out, I could hear his s**t over mine...... and that takes some effort, because im LOUD at the high revs........ and we raced again a few lights up, same deal as before

funny enough after I dropped back he got a big head and decided to rev at a Mustang GT a few times........... Mustang, GONE

and yes that is true it is stll an Acura, not a Ferrari.. now if I said I raped a F430........... THAT would be a bare faced lie

but it seems so far 75% believe it to be true, so it really isnt that farfetched anyways

Yes, I believe it!

My friend had that same 97 Acura CL like yours...his was an automatic with a 200 hp V6 engine I think. The only reason I know this is because the engine in his CL was the same engine in my old 98 Accord V6 automatic.

His car was a first generation 1997 Acura CL like this one:

http://img444.imageshack.us/img444/7706/250px1stacuraclqd6.jpg

My old car was a 1998 Honda Accord V6 automatic and it did a 0-60 in 7.8 and the 1/4 in 16.1 in stock form. I added an AEM cold air intake, Venom 400 computer, and Thermal dual exhaust and my 0-60 was 6.8 and my 1/4 was a 15.1 using my Gtech. I checked for some RSX 0- 60 times and this is what I came up with:

2002 Acura RSX Type S 6.1 14.8
2003 Acura RSX Type S 6.7 15.1
2005 Acura RSX-S 6.4 14.9 (C&D Sept. '05)

In my old Accord I raced a fourth generation Prelude (1992-1996) with 200+hp that had quite a few mods but no turbocharger, supercharger, or NOS. I beat him at the line and all the way up until almost 116 mph or the top of 3rd gear before he started to reel me in and pass me, so your story is definitely believable.

I guess so. RSX is a fun car to drive from what i heard so RSX>CL. 1G CL is way too similar to a 5G accord.

I believe it. A RSX Type S is not that fast. It's quick, but not fast. And you said you went agaisnt a regular RSX, so it's definately possible.

Certainly the previous Type-S was no slouch in acceleration, posting a quick 6.7-second time for the 0-60 dash and blazing down the quarter in just 15.2 seconds.

^A regular RSX has to be slower than that.

well JAZZY, I only wish I had that 3.0.......... unfortunately im running the 2.2, with ther 3.0, I wouldve probably stomped this kid with the same mods ive got on mine right now

and yes, on paper im outright defeated, but there is no way to factor in mods and al that stuff.... according to my GT2 anyways ive dropped my 1/4 mile down to 16.5/84MPH............ i have yet to put it on the strip, and last time I was on a dyno I only had intake/exhaust...... im prpbably going to get her on a dyno again maybe this weekend... and weve gotta remember, all those testing companies do these on the MT variants, my AT had a base off my GT2 at somewhere around flat 17s to 17.2 on the 1/4 mile

and yes the G1 CLs are just G5 Accords in disguise. except for the V6 variants where the Accords get the heavier less powerful C27A, while the CLs got the lighter more powerful J30A.......... im still shocked that they didnt put an H22A into the CLs since they are Acuras that do cost more ... NNNOOOO im stuck with the same low powered heavy a$$ F22B as those Accords.......... as a result I was barely able to outrun a G4 Accord MT a little while back (pre- headers and plug wire set)

i was always more of an NSX sort of guy............. but Godzilla doesnt sound bad........ im actually thinking about importing an old R33 GT-S when I get some money put aside (The GT-Rs are all pretty expensive still), its not a bad price from Japan plus about grand to import it on a boat to the US, I might try for a Texas port, but more than likely i'll have to get it out of California. can you spell ROADTRIP!!!!  I can imagine it now rolling up to some poor Civic ricer with a right hand drive Skyline revin that RB25 at him a few times

Why dont you get a G2 CL Type-S ? 260hp / 232tq. There getting to be a good price. 11-20k depedning on mileage.

Edit - Finally bumped up from a newcomer.. took way to long lol.

Ha. Well somebody who likes a Acura CL may not like a GTO. Two very different cars to say the least

This is interesting. Have you ever had the opportunity to drive a high-powered front/mid-engine rear driver with near 50/50 weight distribution? I have my BMW and the handling scares me... because of weird shimmy issues but nevertheless my Firebird has given me some of the most fun I've ever had with my clothes on (though it's got more like 65/45  )
