New here, how to find out what the cops use in my State?

Hi, I am new to this site, a lot of information for me to digest. I am looking into buying a radar / laser detector, but I don't know what to get. I live in Honolulu Hawaii, I don't know what the cop use. Do they use Laser or Radar? How can I find out before I make a purchase? Also, any suggestion on which one to get? My budget is around $350. Thanks.

if 350 is your limit, id say get yourself an X50, it'll pick up everything you need it to pick up on the RADAR end, and the LIDAR end, as for LIDAR though its almost useless like most other units out ther, so you would need a good jammer to counter that.. but again, that'll be the case with all detectors out there that you could buy............. but Laser use is growing everywhere, so i'd keep an eye out

but for the info look in the speedtrap info section and it'll be under the thread of Raar bands by state, or something like that

Last time I checked Hawaii is exclusively Laser Only.

I found out Hawaii only use Laser, so, getting a radar detector will not help me. I am looking into installing a binder system, I made some call to the local shop today and found out that it will cost about $500 to install one. $350 is not my limit, although it would be nice to spend only $350 but I can live with $500. My Porsche pick up speed pretty fast, sometimes I don't even know I am doing 80 mph. Thanks for all your input.
