I have a question. I have my RX65 set on international Ka now,it seems to hold the warning longer than when it's in USA mode. Has anyone else ever noticed there RX65 warning longer with international mode on? compaired to USA mode? What i mean is. Say you drive by a leo with radar. The detector will beep longer than it does in the USA mode. I think the K band does to. Just wanted to know if anyone has tried this? Thanks.
I think it has something to do with Narrow or Wide or something like that.

Wait, so you're saying that you are getting more range on Ka with Intl mode on? That's weird. It should be the other way around since the RX65 in USA mode only sweeps the 3 main Ka frequencies(as opposed to the whole Ka spectrum), so it should provide more warning time.
The only way to really test this would be to pass by the same LEO in both modes since radar encounters are different each time.

According to guysoflidar.com testing, the RX65 gets better range in USA mode over international mode.

I have done that. With a state troper parked in his driveway for lunch. he had a stalker Ka 34.7 something on the RX65. He was in his driveway so the front of the suv he was driving was about 15 feet from his garage and 50 feet off the road. it was at a 90 degree angle to the road in a village. I went by a few times. Found out that USA mode picked up like say a car lenght sooner than the international mode but not all the time. But after driving by the RX65 seemed to keep the signal longer in international than the USA mode.

I think what he is saying is that in USA mode you get the signal sooner but in intl mode the unit alerts for longer. To be honest i have no clue if it is true sounds intresting.

Milkman i have a rx65.
I asked a simular question on ka int or ka usa.
I was told to have ka int, Reason: it picks up farther than usa mode.
So i tried it and it seems to me having ka int does in fact alert farther and faster. Not by much. Only by 1 sec. Thats not enough to worry about.
I live next to a leo station and they leave radar guns on all the time in the vehicles. Ka band.
I set my rx 65 to usa and drove to and fro the radar. Then i set the rd to int.
It seemed to me the int mode picked up farther than usa. Not much mind you. And yes it stayed on longer.
I leave mine in int mode and have had very little or no falses.

Yes mine works like that. But mine seems to pick up on USA mode that 100 feet sooner. but warns me longer on int. mode.

Sorry to bring up an old thread, but does anyone else have some input on this?
Does the RX65 linearly and continuously sweep from X all the way through Ka, or does it skip lots of frequencies (i.e. all of Ku and much of the other bands) depending on what is set in software?

you can turn bands on or off. it doesn't continuously sweep

I believe the beltronics will scan X, K and Ka (frequency depending on USA or Intl) but will only report if you have it on. If you have X band off, it will still pick up but not report it to the user.
I believe that is differenet for POP mode. In POP mode it will scan more in depth at the 33.8 Ka frequency.
I use USA mode, but will try the other tonight against a K band door sensor.

The two above posts are mutually exclusive...

When you program a band OFF, the unit does NOT sweep that band. In effect it "skips" bands that are programmed OFF.
Don't confuse programming X band OFF with the City NO X option. The two are different programming functions.

We need the professor to clarify the bands off mode, specifically to X and K band.
I know I read it here somewhere that is does not turn off the bands, but just silence them in terms of any visual or audio display. This is when you go into program mode, not city NOX.

I am tempted to just take my RX65 into the lab now... no straight answers.
