I know its hard to see but thats where I mount the RD, u can also see that I have lowered the mounting position but that black thing is for the original mounting location, it seems to be flush with the windscreen and I have tried a razor blade but can't even budge it, feels like plastic, any idea's?

As a detailer, I can remove lots of stuff with WD-40.

Looks like it holds your rear view in place..

I know what it is but it doesn't budge, its solid, it seems to be flush with windscreen, i bet even if I remove it the glass behind it will not be smooth, its gotta interfere with the detector

^ Try heating things up, albeit gently. Use a hair-dryer on medium setting. See if you can't work the razor-blade, dental floss, or even fishing-wire under where the adhesive "should" be.

Those appear to be pictures of the future.

Call your dealership and find out what it is - they could probably tell you. Worst case scenario just conveniently break your windshield. Dang kids outside playing in the nice warm weather can't control the baseball. :-\

You pay for insurance right :-D

So thats what radar detectors look like in 2022 ;) wow so small and thin!!

But yeah try a hair dryer, it will melt the glue and should just peel off, try a plastic spatula as a metal one may crack the window.

damn, I cracked the screen with the blow dryer, it needed to be changed anyway, I think that I'm going with the non-tint

^ Holy crap! How did that happen!

Did you use a heat-gun instead of a hair-dryer? Was the windshield at/near the freezing mark when you started?

:(

Oh man, bruddah, I'm soooooooo sorry. :( That's honestly never happened to me or my friends before.....it's actually the reason why I recommended a hair-dryer, specifically, instead of a heat-gun, as the latter could cause such problems. :(

I starting blowing it with the dryer, lowest setting, the block thing didn't come off, I turned it up, still didn't budge, didn't it up to the highest setting and still didn't budge, then finally the black thing chipped off but like I predicted it took some of the glass with it, I don't think it cracked with the heat it cracked with me applying too much pressure against the glass trying to scrap that black thing off

As long as I don't hit too many bumps I can drive it, its at about 4" spider crack now, until I find one without the tint and without the rear view mounting

^ Dang, bro, that sucks! :(

But now I at least understand why it chipped off.

Man, why's that thing on there SOOOOOOOOOO tight! Makes me wish they'd build the entire car out of that stuff!
