if you have the money for a concealed display radar detector and jammer, are they worth it? or are you just as well protected for $1000 bucks less? if it is worth it, which products have the best radar detection performance/user friendliness/jammer ability (if applicable)?

am i better off with my STi and getting a laser interceptor, LPP, or something else?

^ I'd say you're eleventy billion times (give or take a million) better off to get a good jammer than a concealed RD that won't even perform as well as your STi. IMHO

opinions anyone?My pick would have to be the SR7 but i would not mount like it says on there manual.just take a look at how one if the members here from Gol has there's mounted seems to work better than a v1 in ka band 35.5 freq which that is very big here in my state i am thinking about buying the SR7 affter i pay of my Ka jammer :wink:

If I had the money to burn. I would get the SR7 and the LPP :twisted: But, that would be over $1800.

Close to $1,000:
If I was doing mostly highway: V1 + LPP
If it was city and highway: X50 + LPP
If I needed stealth: STi + LPP

All I do is highway driving for my job and I dont even have a detector yet, only LPP 8)

Seems like laser is the choice for highway leos where I live, so I might not even get a detector......

For as much as everyone is now focused on the SR7, it does do well, as many here have pointed out, to note that RacerX's mounting is anything but typical (an "off the books" enthusiast's mounting) - and it further will do well to remember that the line-of-sight that his SR7 is getting is truly exceptional.....it's on a Toyota Tundra pickup, which isn't exactly a small truck, and isn't exactly low-to-the-ground.

With our OP here, shimmeringtypex, it is conceiveable that even with such a non-standard high-mount on his vehicle, which is considerably lower-to-the-ground, that he may not see a not insignificantly reduced range with the SR7 - at least to the point where the difference between, say, it and his current detector and/or another top-flight detector such as the V1, may be all but nil.

But that aside, I truly believe that a full concealed-display (either a fully remote unit such as the SR7 or an "open" detector with remote/concealed display, such as the V1 w/remote display) would be a concern of personal preference as well as "stealth need" - the latter to encompass anything from the need of such integration in a show-car to the need to have well-hidden equipment due to local laws and/or even theft-prevention.

As for the jammer side of the equation, yes, I do think that the SR7/ZR3 is usable - as long as your local enforcement hardware/practices are a good match for the ZR3's capabilities. This item is rather low-priced (however, the need for a professional install in order to maintain warranty can raise this cost significantly), and can also be well-integrated into the Bel/Escort line. However, if more protection is needed, I'd honestly go with either the LPP or the AL - seeing that the OP already owns the Blinder, which can then supplement the diode unit(s) that he is now adding.

The one wild-card that presents itself now would be the Laser Interceptor. At its intended price-point, the performance of the pre-production test units, as well as the very-soon projected time of arrival on-market, I think that the OP would do well to wait and see what the full-retail versions are capable of, before jumping in.
