View Full Version : Fewest or Reasonable Number of Falses
I am searching for a replacement detector and would like some first hand feedback from owners on which of the top window mount models give the fewest false alerts. Considering the Sti, the RX65 and the X50.
I want good coverage but I don't want to be distracted to the point of annoyance like some of my previous detectors seemed to do.
Driving is mixed country and highway. I wouldn't generally use it in the city driving.

In my opinion the X50 is the best filtering detector.
I would only buy the STI if your in a State or Provence that has ban Radar Detectors.
The STI is a good detector but it's priced so high because it's immune to spectra.

I'd go with the X50 or RX65. The Sti seem to false more than the other 2. Please note that false alert also depends of the number of radar detector users in your area. The more users, the more false alert you get. Most auto door openers are picked up by most radar detectors

more filtering, the better chance of missing an actual threat. the more sensitive the more chatty it will be.
sensitivity rules in my part of the country, I can do a 100 miler and not ever get a peep out of mine. if i was in a major metro area, I woldn't even bother with an RD

I have the most recent versions of the V1, X50, and RX65.
I recommend the V1 or the X50. I also think the V1 makes an EXCELLENT city detector if you activate 15 second K mute and leave the detector in advanced logic mode.
