You can see my mph K55 x-band radar (antenna is in the top right). My good old whistler (only there to do an impromptu test of range vs. my new rx65) and then of corse barely visible is my RX65. I love that thing, too bad its probably pissed that i keep blasting x-band right beside it :p

I sold my pro95 a while back because they used digital in denver. now that i'm back in TX i miss having a scanner :( I even had a big antenna on my Z. I could pick up trunked traffic out o Lubbock TX for about 60-80mi WIHOUT their repeater.

I didn't want to drill holes in my dash so I used velcro. You actually don't need as much as you would think. Just 4 little squares, one in each corner did the trick. Just make sure you wipe down the area with water (no soap or greasy stuff) and dry it well.

I actually took out the mounting bracket and the radio is stuck flat on the surface of the dash now. Looks flawless and clean.

Hello to everyone,

I normally only have 1 or 2 radar units mounted in there. I have Velcro across the dash to mount items on there and also other mounts.

I forgot to bring a few of the toys:

Missing:

RDD VG-2
Kustom Hawk (ran out of room anyway)
K 55 X band (being repainted)
(think that is all of the not pictured radar left behind)


Detectors:
8500 (wifes car)
Escort detectors 2 or 3 (where did I put that box?)
Escort Laser (add on unit to 'upgrade' your detector for lidar)

Rats nest:

Yes, it was a huge rat nest of wires. Then I just temp. mounted them to show most of them.

I been working on putting in the Golden Eagle Dual Ka. Have all the wires run, but was making a mount for the back window horn for the rear horn and need to remake the front mounting bracket.

Next needed to be installed:

Power: need to figure out how to run the power wire from the battery to the back crew cab wall.

Battery brain: Last truck found 'dead' many mornings

Gamber-Johnson: radio mount installed - Making custom mount for the rack

Radios:
Alinco 220 Mhz
Yaesu 8900 (28/50/VHF/UHF)
TK-790 (890) 45 watt 160 channels
Radio Shack scanner

Antenna:
At least 3

Back Rack: mount antennas and lighting.

GPS: Dash mounted and remote amp. antenna

Think that is all I have left to do.

I chose the 3 for my daily driver because I like the styling a bit better than the 6 and of course it's a little cheaper.

Del sol is my project car that I just finished last week. Interior needs a bit more work but the outside is finally done. :D

Thing is I have been fascinated with radar LOOOOOOOOOONG before I ever bought a radar detector. I bought my whistler in HS due to a local cop harassing me (long story, nearly sued, guy is a rent a cop in bumfuk egypt now). I guess i kinda grew into the red sports car owner stereotype :p

Is that wire loom around your v1 hardwire or is that a coiled smart cord? I was gonna say thats pretty cool if you added loom.. I would also do that but i unplug my v1 and take it down so often.

after playing around w/ it more i have noticed it "pulses" more often after its been on 5 minutes or so.

but the times it doesn't it still starts out at 1 and slowly ramps to 9 which is SCARY.
the rx65 performs as expected each time after it's been on for about 2 minutes; before 2 minutes it gives no alerts and before about 5 minutes it takes it a second or two to alert to x-band in Highway mode, same in a and city mode. K band is almost instant after the initial warm up and haven't tried ka but i got i/o'd on my last road trip about the time i expected to be io'd so i guess its doing its deal.

This is a RS800 which is an after market antenna that I use.
The Antenna is specifically tuned for the 800 mhz band which is
the Trunking frequency band that my local PD, EMS, and Fire Depts.
use.

It's a great antenna and I would hightly recommend it for the 800 mhz.
