Well its summer time and i have my tax return that i can afford to use a few bucks of on a new RD. My question is, which RD should i choose if KA-band is my biggest threat and i only have room for one RD.

RX65 i guess that the Sti is closest but i prefere the RX65 (don't need the stealth)

Still going on about that?

Of your choices I'd choose the 9500i.

Your "report card" doesn't tell the whole story. And report cards have Fs, Ds, Cs and Bs too. You only show the As.

What about when the V1 lost? How about sometimes its so close that it wouldn't matter in the real world?

And yes, I did vote for the V1.

Surprised to see the STi w/ 0% of the votes. V1 should be a good choice. :D

I think the issue with 33.8 scares a lot of people. But when it does work, it has the most sensitivity.

Yes I agree. If the issue with 33.8 is fixed then I'd rather have the STi. However I don't think paying an extra 100+ bucks is worth it for the stealth.

Isn't the RX65 just as good on Ka?

All I can say is, I'd definitely put X50 and 9500i last for Ka detection..

Although I haven't used a 9500i and don't want to use one really, but that's besides the point. I would pick the STi. After using a V1 for 60 days, I feel like the STi gives me better protection against Ka, well 35.5 anyways. Especially when it comes to forward facing Ka up ahead.

Ok well when i had my X50 i noticed that my main Ka-band threat was 34.7 and 33.8. Do yall believe the STi has the 33.8 prob fixed or should the RX-65 in USA mode be better?

Hookem202, if Ka is your biggest threat, I would go with the RX65 in USA mode hands down. It out performs my V1 on Ka especially around corners and over hills. Trust me on this one. I drive about 35,000 miles a year so my detectors get a work out. RX65 is your best bet in this case.

My STi does well on 34.7ghz, but I haven't really tested it on 33.8ghz. I'd say go for the RX65, but I feel the K band is lacking so much compared to the V1 and STi. I voted for the V1, but I think depending on the 33.8ghz issue the STi would be a great choice.

One thing about the STi (based on my experience) is that it has the best rear detection of any RD besides the V1. It does very well with 35.5ghz, 34.7Ghz, K, and X band. If you are split between the V1 and STi it might come down to cost and if 33.8ghz is a threat in your area.

It seems like with all of the data that has been made available from the enthusiasts like the GOL team that we are now able to make choices based on what threats we face i.e. X, K, KA, and what RD preforms best against these threats.

I'd look at the whole picture. Yes Ka is the biggest threat, but if your area has a lot of K band doors then you have to factor that in.

When reading the GoL results realistically they all are within 150+ - ft of each other. It all depends on what you want.

Realistically on any given day one could do better than the other depending on the conditions.

I'm loving my STI. Its built like a tank, comes with a awesome carrying case, external speaker, and auto mute is a god send coming from the V1.

So far my 2 runs I've gotten .8 miles on forward facing ka which is awesome and 1.3 miles on constant Ka.

heck if anything try out the STI if you don't like it return it. then try out the V1. In about a year I think the 9500i is going to shape up quiet nicely but for now I'd wait for improvements.

enjoy.

I have gotten literaLLY A 1.5 mile warning with my old school 8500 and just over a mile with my 9500i.

May need to try the 9500i. Does well with Ka band and is very quiet. Beat my V1 when it comes to off axis detection in 90 degree angle approach or forward facing. Although ramp up is not good and has an issue with lockout features which is really very minor because A mode does a lot of wonders. You'll never know what to expect from a particular product unless you try it and give it a test drive.
