It's waterproof, crush proof, and dust proof. Made of extremely high quality plastic, making it the ultimate case to protect your baby, lol. Thought some of you others would be interested too. You can find these on their website also at www.pelican.com. The one I bought was the 1040, check dimensions to see if itd fit your specific toy =)
edit: the inside is lined with rubber on the bottom and the top lid has a nice quality foam lining, the ones with a clear lid do not however.
the latch is also heavy duty ;)

That's cool.
But I wont need it unless I'm crawling through the jungle.. no wait.. rainforest, and have a vehicle waiting there.
I just leave mine in the car.

white, is there room in there for the cig lighter adapter? Looks like it would be good to have for trips where I'd be renting a car someplace.

Well, my X50 case didn't last long. Shortly after I got it, it got lost somewhere in the back of my car. Weeks later, I found it and it was kinnda cut up, and the lid was kinnda crooked. It still closes though. I don't use the case anyways :)

If I travelled a lot it may be worth it, but my RD is always in my car except when I park at my office (outside). My condo has secured underground parking so it's stays at a constant 10-15 degrees year round.

probably not, you have to take the suction cups off and place it to the side as in the picture to get it to close easily
they do make larger ones though
Pelican cases are almost indestructable. I use them at work and we abuse the hell out of them!

Folding and unfolding of the seats, and my driving
So what are the real uses for these cases? Are they gun cases?

they would make for a great case for geocaching.

Do Pelican cases still carry the warranty statement of days gone by?
"Guaranteed against all hazards except shark bite, bear attack and children under 5."?
The purge valve is very handy if the case is closed and placed in an area at less than atmospheric pressure (airplane cargo hold) - you open the valve to equalize the pressure so you can open the case. Just have to remember you have one while you are tugging on the case trying to get it open.

Whiterabbit, that's a nice case you have there. The V1 looks as if it fits real well. I don't like the STi case, the cord is wrapped up way too tight w/ my units. I use a Bel 995 case for one of my STi's and the other, I haven't quite yet decided which case to use w/ it? Elvato, my X50 case got a little scratched up also from putting it under the seat of my last car. It didn't fit well under there. I noticed on the X50 case, the cord isn't so tight fitting compard to the STi. At least you can pull the X50 out of the case quickly compared to the STi. At least the STi is a good rd IMHO though.

They come in all kinds of shapes and sizes. You can use them for anything you need. They are pricey though. They make the best luggage due to their durability considering the way airline baggage handlers throw luggage around. We in the Coast Guard do use them for gun cases quite extensively.
anyone know about how well a dector will recieve through a case like this pelican? I am thinking about using one for mounting my rx65 to the motorcycle. thoughts?

I found a Nintendo DS case at Radio Shack for my V1. Just bought another one online for my brother who's getting a V1 for his birthday. :D
The V1 fits perfectly inside once you cut out the mesh game holder.

It's the ESL-1063 Nintendo DS case.
