As the STI-r antenna serves as both the radar detector and laser antenna it is important to mount the antenna in a fashion that the front laser sensors are not blocked and to be positioned in the front grill area where officers commonly target their laser guns.

dude, there is no way he will miss a laser alert there, I ran a laser receiver in the exact same spot and NEVER missed a hit.

Nice install, you will enjoy, can you please report the audio ramp up on K band?? let us know if it is quick or progressive like we all hope for.

The receiver is right above the license plate which is a common area to target when using laser. If so, I can't see it missing a heart beat.

I agree, the license plate is a common area to target and the receiver is located right above it.

Again, this is not my vehicle so I cannot report on the ramp up. I am sure I could find out though.

It looks like the receiver is behind the grill? Can it work well like that? I know for Jammers it is important to not to be behind anything, what what radar and laser receivers?

yes as I have ALREADY said it will still receive a laser signal... Jammers need a clear view as they also transmit, the detector only needs to receive a signal which it will in that spot, there is multi laser rx diodes in the head.

Laser detector work fine. Ramp up not fixed. Range is better than my regular STi.

Not unless Bel decides to modify the firmware for their other radar detectors. I seriously doubt that they will do this for their Vector series since these settings would be beyond the comprehension of the average user. Yet it would be neat if Bel came out with new top-of-the-line dash mounted and remote models for their RX series which had this new Ka settings feature.

Other new features which I would like to see are AutoScan filtering for K band door openers in addition to the already present filtering for X band door openers. I also think that the AutoScan filtering for K band door openers should be adjustable with simple settings of Weak, Med(edium or moderate), and Str(ong), with the Strong setting filtering out K band door openers just as strongly as AutoScan presently filters out X band door openers. :)
