I just got my STi driver back from Bel today. I did a reset to see what version it was, and it still says A4M9. Has everyone who sent their detector in for the 33.8 fix had theirs come back as that? Also is there any difference between the A4M9 STi with the bug fix and the current A7M9 model?

Any help is appreciated

That's weird  the only way to see the differences, if any, is to have (run?) an A7M9 beside your serviced A4M9 :!:

So what's the difference, if any, btwn an upgraded A4M9 and a brand-new A7M9? If it's just that 4 instead of 7, who cares?

The word I got from Bel was *We no longer associate a firmware version with any particular change due to the fact there are so many minor updates on a regular basis*

That's what I was told...by Bel.

My question would be; Does the version number represent a HARDWARE change? If not, what DOES it represent? Why are some different which is kinda what you are asking anyways I think.

Did yours come back with the same Mfg date code and serial number?

Ya never know...maybe it's the same hardware but sourced from a different vendor (like the speaker now comes from China rather than Taiwan)

I have a A7M9 but maybe it's really a A7M9.3655738.9921-9 Like RW'07 said...who cares? Does it work within factory guideline specs?

I have a V1 but I can't tell you off hand what firmware version it is...but that's a whole different can of worms anyways.

If it's got the 33.8 fix (if it was even broke) I think you are good to go.

Hope I don't sound too much like a wise guy...I'm on my second STI just because I can. Old one appeared to be fine too.

Maybe when they are doing that 33.8 fix upgrade on an already used STI they are not changing the firmware, still A4M9, but when they are making a brand-new one, probably exactly the same in hardware and software like the normal A4M9 with the 33.8 bug fix upgrade, they are using the next firmware which for them is A7M9, what a hell happened with A5 and A6   so, my point, I think it just a matter of numbers, A4 instead of A7, but in fact, hardware and software they are exactly the same and that's what that matters... just my own opinion...

I agree. My STi after its bugfix came back still reading A4M9. I too think that the A4M9 and A7M9 firmwares are the same, and that Bel simply uses the A7M9 designation to indicate that the STi was manufactured after the bugfix was made available. Its just a hunch, but this would give Bel a clear way to avoid a customer sending in his STi because he thought that it might have the 33.8 bug.

What about an STi with a mfg date of 32/07, which was supposed to be after the bug fix, but still shows A4M9?

I may be mistaken but here is how I remember it.

A1M7 - Release to consumers
A2M8 - Ka false tweaks?
A3M8 - More Ka false tweaks?
A4M9 - Even more Ka false tweaks?
A4M9 - modified for RoHS compliant photocell
A4M9 - modified for 33,8/etc bug
A7M9 - modified for ??? - current.
