Just bought the new blue RX65 (Updated with pictures)

Ordered the RX65 with blue display this afternoon. I am out of town for the rest of the week so I will most likely get it on Monday. I will post back here with pictures and if anything has changed (ramp up or audio ramp up).

I just went over to Bel's web site and had a look at the blue RX-65. Anyone notice that the CAD image of the RX-65 has a couple of flaws?

-- Someone forgot that the plastic rear laser lens is supposed to be shaded a very deep red. In the image the rear laser lens appears to be nonexistent.

-- The blue colored Ka alert display is somewhat curved rather than flat.

I wonder if Bel will see this post and go back and re-render the CAD drawing to fix these rendering defects.

I have noticed the curve-age on other RX65 pictures on the internet and the rear laser lens is nonexistent.

I am going to email them about it.

Must be a preproduction unit or prototype. Anyway, the rear lenses doens't work anyway :wink:

Nope -- not a pre-production prototype. These are CAD rendered images.

EDIT: I removed all of the images since Bel has now fixed the images on their web site.

Here I cloned the rear laser sensor from the red RX65 image onto the blue RX65 image to fix it:

I am emailing this image to Bel so that they can quickly replace their image with the "fixed" image.

Thanks for the kind compliment. A good while back I emailed Escort where I noted several deficiencies in their web sites and offered to improve their web sites for dirt cheap. I got no response. I used to own an internet advertising company several years ago. The Bel and Escort sites are very nicely laid out and are very cleanly designed. Yet I feel that, in particular with the Vector series, they aren't doing a good enough job of distinguishing the differences regarding features of those various models. This creates some customer confusion and indecision in my opinion.

I also hate that you can't click on the images for the components of the various remote products to see larger and clearer images of those components, and that no dimensions are provided for these components. This stuff would be very handy for the owner to decide where he or she wanted each component to be installed. Wouldn't it be cool if you could download a PDF which you could print that has templates for the remote display module, remote control button module, or whatever, so that you could cut out these templates and see where you would like these items mounted in your car? Or what about templates for the width and height of each radar detector so that you could see if you could conveniently mount it above your rear view mirror?

This is all stuff which could create customer anticipation and excitement about owning and using one of Bel's or Escort's products.

This stuff seems to be a no-brainer to me.

Nah. I like my RDs mounted above my RVM. Its hard to see the RX65's more tilted display, compared to my V995, 9500i or STi, when its mounted above the RVM. :)

I emailed Bel about it and they went ahead and fixed the rear laser antenna and changed the curved Ka ramp up to "Highway."

How do you like the blue display so far? It looks super bright... Any trouble reading the display in direct sunlight?

Looks cool though, Has to be a M4 right? I am curious about the ramp up. Another thing with the display on Bright can that be adjusted or just when it is in Dim mode?

The Blue just looks so much better then any of the red-display detectors.
