The dimensions are exactly the same as the ZR3.

I noticed that the specs on the front heads for the ZR4 are larger than the heads for the 9500ci, I thought they were going to be the same? or a typo somewhere?

Very interesting point about the specs in the 9500ci. I was hoping that the ZR4 would be smaller than ZR3.

As I told you all before the ZR4 is a ZR3 (hardware wise) with improved algorithms

Maybe i will keep my 9500I get a 9500ci and also add a ZR4, now that would be one complicated system.
Or maybe i will take Happya$$ advice, but trade in my 9500I for a new 9500CI.

Hmm...I've been doing the math.

The STiR is $1100
add the ZR4 $450
---------------------
Total $1550

The 9500ci is $1600
subtract ZR4 ($450)
---------------------------
9500ci RD only $1150

So, for $50 more for the 9500ci's basic RD components, you get the GPS antenna plus the 9500ci's advanced automatic TrueLock features. I think Belscort needs to drop the price of the STiR to $999 in order to help it "fly off the shelves as rapidly as the 9500ci since there are a lot of long haul drivers where the 9500ci' auto TrueLock, which requires three passes in order to automatically lock out a location, is of no real benefit. The other advantage is that there are those who want a concealed remote RD installation, yet due to budget reasons would like to add the ZR4 later. Thus, 2/3 the total package price to initially install a STiR and a few to several months later the final 1/3 of the total package price when they add the ZR4. And for long haul drivers who don't need the 9500ci's TrueLock, the total package cost would be $150 less than the complete 9500ci package.

What do you all think? Does my logic and suggested price points make sense? Of course, this all depends on if Escort holds the line on the 9500ci price or raises it. We ARE in a recession. I think dropping the STiR's price by $100 would be a better move versus raising the 9500ci's price. Then there is the psychological factor too. I wonder if people when seeing the STiR's $1100 price think, "Man, that costs more than a grand!" On the other hand will people seeing the STiR priced at $999 think, "Thats just under a grand yet I really want it and I can just barely afford it -- gotta go for it!"

If I do not need stealth, a $400 V1 (which I already own) + a $450 ZR4 seems to put me out ahead... Of course, I realize this is highly apples-to-oranges...

From: http://www.escortradar.com/zr4.htm

The SHIFTER ZR4™'s High performance "Multi-Shift" laser transceivers provide maximum protection against laser targeting and CINCINNATI MICROWAVE's exclusive "link" design allows you to connect the SHIFTER ZR4™ to select ESCORT radar detectors (Passport 9500i Blue, Passport 9500i Red, Passport 8500 X50 Blue, Passport 8500 X50 Red, Passport 8500, Cordless Solo S2 and Passport SR7), providing the ultimate protection against all forms of radar and laser encounters. This combination of detection and "shifting" is the best protection available!

I assume this means it will work with SRX as well!!! Excellent upgrade

My limits keep going up and up on my cards, without applying for anything. I do charge a lot and pay it off when my expense checks come in, since I travel for a living. Maybe that's why. I could so buy a car on a couple of these cards. :?

lol, Its crazy how much they will increase you credit limit. I swear when im 60 i am going to max them all out and go to some far away island.

I’m thinking of a nice fully loaded Dodge Challenger with every countermeasure know to man.

Yeah, my limits have gone up quite a bit, because I use it a lot. The credit card companies figure that if they keep increasing it, I'll use it more. I rarely make humongous purchases on credit cards though. Of course one day it may change if I ever decide to get hitched.

Getting back on topic, anyone receive and install their ZR4 yet? If yes, please do tell! And pics would be great too!
