I have HAD IT with pop. I shut it off...and I finally have some peace and quiet.

I have had this over one year (most up to date), and pop falses are a PAIN!!

I hope POP is not around in IL (chicago area)

I know some have had very little.
On a typical 30 minute drive in the suburbs of chicago, my pop would go off atleast 5-8 times, easily!! Its usually about once every 5-10 minutes.

That is my experience with the X50 and WAS my experience with the RX65. Shut it off and you will be one happy camper

I guess that is the price you pay for the "best" POP protection......FALSING all the time so you have to turn it off. Doesn't it seem that everything a radar detector supposedly does well increases falsing.

I get a few false POP on my X50. I also sometimes get a POP signal right before I get a Ka signal from a radar car. any ideas what causes a false POP.

A false Ka POP can be caused by other leaky radar detectors that are crappy or it could be instant-on Ka that is seen as a POP signal because it is a quick alert.

Have you guys tested this at all? Is it a known fact that cobras do set it off? I know you see em when you pass them and look to see what kind hey have.

I have had many false alerts with PoP mode on, yes it is caused by other radar detectors. I was driving down the local highway and hell the damn thing kept going off to radar detectors comming in the oppisite direction.

But... as someone else posted, I have found that POP has helped when the instant on was used ahead or if the X50 picks up a faint signal thats pretty far away. I do have one question though.

If pop is detected because of a faint signal that it has picked up, is it better to leave it on or turn it off and just use the regular detection?

One problem with having pop on is it goes to full alert, so if its false and you ignore it you might get caught with a signal thats true.

The PoP alert will scare the hell out of you when you arent expecting it.

I think we just need to get rid of the spectres etc and just use X50's PoP mode

Even though the POP is annoying, since I live in Albany NY, should i keep POP on at all times and just deal with the false alarms?

If the falses don't annoy you keep it on!
