Yes I have a 04 chevy silverado and was wanting to mount my detector above the rearview mirror and behind the tint/and dots to hide it from being so visiable. Not worried about laser, because I know this will make it useless to pick it up but was wondering how will it effect the performance on the radar bands?

Just hardwired my RD last nite above the RVM for my truck. As for radar reception it will improve. I expected an increase in falses too but got just the opposite.

Thanks for the reply. I wasnt sure with the dots and tint in the way, if it would affect the k, ka bands.

Forgot to mention my truck doesn't have dots nor tint band, but mount yours slightly below the edge of the tint band and you should be fine.

I run my X50 under the dots and just in the factory tint. Its an 2006 Chevy PU. Never had any problems with it like this.

ok, thanks. I moved it to the side of the dots but just a lil into the tint. I love the performance from my x50 rev 5 and dont want to decrease it on where I mount it.

I'm pretty sure the dots and most, if not all, factory tint would not affect radar reception. You run into problems with after market tint when it contains metal in it. The way around this is getting Lumar or other ceramic tint.

The only problem with the dots is some people find it hard to get the suction cups to stick there.

I too got the same result after hard-wiring my 8500 (non x50) to my '88 Camry.
