This so called KU band, I've heard alot about it. I've heard it's coming in 2006. But why? What advantage would the manufacturers of radar have for investing on selling KU band radar? Is it better then KA? Can it be used while moving? Is it harder to pick up w/ radar detectors? I don't understand why KU band is coming.

Extremely easy to detect for the detectors that can detect it...Maybe by 2007 it will be out

I wish cops would switch over completely to lidar because you can jam it. YOu can't jam radar....w/o going to jail that is.

yes, but WHY is it coming to the U.S., is it better then KA? Or is it just another frequency to bug us?

There's no advantage to Ku other than most detectors not (currently) detecting it. Ku is closer to X band than K or Ka, so the signal carries further. They should have called it Xa ;)

The advantage is this $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ MAnufacturers can proceed now on both ends (radar and radar detector) with KU which means more $$$$$$$ for the radar industry

I don't, as it is only a matter of time before laser jamming is also illegal everywhere.
If it is a federal felony to jam or attempt to jam a police radar signal as Roy has mentioned then laser will follow.
I would much rather have the pre warning of radar.

Well I guess the good news is that KU will be easy to detect. Also, no automatic doors in the U.S. use KU, so it won't be falsing as much... I think. I just hope Escort will upgrade their X50 customers if KU ever does come to the U.S.

Apparently some Cell Phones can cause KU Falses
