Maybe someone can answer this for me but i run my 9500ix in highway mode with nothing disabled except automute
This is my third day of running it but one thing i have noticed is that on my route alot of the false locations that my x50 would pickup the 9500ix does not pickup and i know that they are not locked out
Does the 9500ix employ some other type of filtering process ?

A forum member that recently switched from the v955 to the V1 was experiencing similar lack of false alerts. This was my answer to him and I think your situation is similar.

This is probably the explanation. X band is technically from 10.500 GHz to 10.550 GHz. To prevent missing those slightly out of tune radar guns, manufacturers will somewhat overshoot the band. From my experience, the better the RD, the less the overshoot. So for instance, let's say that the v955 overshoots to detect 10.475 GHz to 10.575 GHz and let's say that the V1 overshoots to 10.490 GHz to 10.560 GHz. If the false alert was 10.565GHz, the v955 will detect it, but the V1 will not. Since neither of your RDs has spec(tech) display, there is no way to know for sure. I used to see the exact same thing with my SRX and my V1, but since the SRX has spec display, it was easy to figure out what was going on.

Its not the auto learn i haven't even driven this route before with the 9500ix , i just remember were my x50 always falsed on the same route.

I've noticed similar behavior on K band in Highway mode. There are a couple of falses the 9500ix does not pick up that my X50 did. This is a good thing ... they are falses. You have to trust the detector. ;)
The point of the 9500ix is to alert you to LEOs, not every K band false within 10 counties. If you want all the K falses, buy a V1. :eek:
I also got a 2.4 mile Ka alert on the 9500ix which is farther than anything I ever got on my X50 (that I could confirm anyway).

Perhaps you were using an older X50 which had the S7 radar horn. The S7 horn design was less sensitive on-axis but more sensitive off-axis. The 9500ix uses the M4 horn which is more sensitive on-axis, but less sensitive off-axis. This helps Bel's and Escort's current radar detectors which use the newer M4 horn design to produce far fewer false alerts for microwave door openers which are located significantly off to either side of the road.
All you have to do to check if djs theory is correct is on that route go to the false location and get close to it to see if it alerts

I have to agree with MEM-TEK on this one. Easiest way to prove it is to go past your favorite false alarm spot from days past. You know the one...it would drive you crazy every time you drove by, but with the 9500ix, you hardly hear a peep. When you get in front of the building the alarm comes from, pull in the parking lot and see how your detector responds.
I can tell a distinct difference in falses with the ix compared to my old 8500. I can also tell a big difference in strength of signals from side angles or perpendicular to the way I am traveling. Had a LEO pulled up to a red light today and was at a right angle to me. As I approached him, the 9500ix alarmed, but nothing nearly as strong as my 8500 would have. I can tell you that had I been traveling head on toward him, the alarm would have been much more intense.

Flip over your x50 and see next to the FCC id does it say M4 or S7? And that will answer your question.

This is 100% correct. The M4 horn in the 9500 is more sensitive on-axis, but less sensitive off-axis where most falses are. There is a whole write up in my sticky about the M4/9500I-ix horn & sensitivity.
