Ok I have decided that I wanted to go with a whilslter, since I have owen bel escorts unit. I wanted to try something differnent. But I just saw there E versrions of the pro 78 and 690. Does any one no when they are comming out, is the KA MAX features means its going to be more sensitiviy then the XTR-695. What should I do, should I buy an xtr-695 or go head and wait, see what this KA MAX means.

Ka MAX = Greater Ka sensitivity.

Supposedly if the detector detects a small amount of Ka, it will stay focused and continue searching for that specific frequency for several seconds instead of going back to looking for ALL signals.

This helps it detect short bursts of Ka better.

Wait for the new Pro 78 SE. Ka Max should boost Ka performance very noticeable.
It should be out in a few months. It is on my top list to buy. 2-5 more db's in my guess would be added to Ka performance.

If this is how Ka Max is supposed to work, then this is an expansion on Mike B's patent where he instantly stops the signal sweep and then looks for the continued presense of the detected suspect frequency. I theorize that Ka Max continues to check for the suspect frequency for an extended period of time before resuming the normal signal sweep operations. This should work rather effectively if the radar gun is pointed more or less in the general direction of your vehicle regardless of whether or not the RD gun is pointed towards your vehicle from front or behind. I suspect that detecting forward facing radar before you reach the forward facing radar gun's location still will be a problem, but perhaps a significantly reduced problem.

All of the above is pure conjecture since I am merely thinking about ways in which Mike B could have expanded upon the initial implementation of his new patent which we saw within the Rev C Pro78 version and in the XTR-695. In any event, real world testing of these new models which feature Ka Max should be quite interesting. And this is where Whistler stands out compared to Cobra. If your budget constrains you to buy a relatively inexpensive RD, then at least make sure that it is one of Whistler's higher end models or is a Bel V940 or V955 rather than blowing your money on any Cobra model.

I would agree with Jag42, wait for the new SE models.

Does any one no when they are comming out
My distributor told me that they would be out in around a month. The day he gets them in stock he is going to call me with the details. I have a very good feeling about this new line-up of Whistler detectors. I think they have learned what is possible in this industry if you make a quality product and they are finally going to be in the league of belscort :)
