Does any one think the V1 or other RDs would be half the price or less if they were manufactured in China?

I wouldn't want one if they were. We have enough cheap Chinese made crap breaking every day. But to answer your question, no the price would not come down. Of all the products that have gone to China to be manufactured that I'm familiar with none came down in price, only the quality declined.

Not to mention the hassle of putting the broken item back on the slow boat to shanghai if something goes wrong. No thank you i prefer turnarounds measured in days vs months

Maybe they'll make knock off VG2 and Spectre with arrows like the V1.

Ain't that the truth. Yet the market is flooded with these unbelivably cheap (both in price and performance) Chinese made radar detector models. This does the industry irreparable harm since many users of these cheap RD models assume that all RDs have terrible performance.

Basically here:
The answer is: No! Because the 'things' that come out of China (called) radar detectors essentially do not detect radar... so there are no real Chinese 'Radar-Detectors' you see... simply units named as such. ;)

Exactly! :D
I wouldn't say everything from china is crap. Out of the few products I have ordered directly from china (Chinese companys as well), have worked just fine and are quite a bit cheaper.
I have bought through Chinavasion and eBay. They do have some pretty neat things (some illegal and some legal in USA, however). You just have to do you homework first before you buy anything from just about anywhere!

I'll never buy a chinese radar detector. We have given too much away to the chinese already. That is one of the reasons the economy is what it is.

The packages on the following Cobras on the shelf all have "Made in China" printed on them:
XRS 969

All Cobras are made in China, mostly if not all by BG T&A (BG Tech).
