View Full Version : STi Driver alternative?

Hello,

I currently have a STi but am not too happy with it's performance on K band. i understard the 9500ci is better, but I don't want to shell out $1600 on a new detector, esp.since I will be going LI for my laser related needs. Is there a cheaper version of the 9500ci? For example, without shifter, or a non-hardwire version? Or anything else? I need a Spectre invisible unit.

Ebay has them for around $600. I'm not going to post the link because thats against forum rules. Send your unit in first and see if there is a defect.

Your best bet is the STi-R since it has the same enhanced K and Ka band sensitivities as the 9500ci. The STi-R plus the LI will rock. Alternatively, a STi-R and the new Blinder M47 J17 will also rock.

The STI-R/LI combo is the route i'm taking..

So the STi and STi-R are not the same unit internally? That is the reason I was looking for something different, since the disappointing performance described in the thread below mirrors what I've experienced with my STi .

I've had my Sti firmware updated twice, and it passes Bel's testing... going to send it in for the ramp up fix soon, I guess I'll see after that.

ur limited with ur needs to be stealth..the STi-R would be more sensitive...what mode do u run your STi on

Well I broke down and ordered the 9500ci. Just hope the ZR4s are good enough. My car is dark and I have no front plate, and a can of Veil is coming too.

Well I broke down and ordered the 9500ci. Just hope the ZR4s are good enough. My car is dark and I have no front plate, and a can of Veil is coming too.From my experience, the ZR4s require all the passive support you can muster, perfect placement and alignment to work properly. If everything is done right, they can perform quite well.
