After reading the boards for a couple weeks now, it's become apearant that the overwhelming majority of all radar being used is either K or Ka band.. Are there really any police using Xband guns anywhere in the country?
It makes the most noise on my detector and it's super annoying.. If I turn X band off, how much of a chance am I running that I'll miss an X band speed trap?
Percentage wise, how many guns out there use X band?

Be sure to keep your X band enabled when you come to NC. The state troopers still use their trusty K55 X band units in some of their cars. It's not that common, but have seen it a few times during the years.
Also, some county sheriff depts still have X band. I guess their thin budgets prevent them from getting the latest and greatest Ka units.

Yup... I was driving north out of Lambertville (Rte. 179) today and had an unmarked white cvp driving towards me with the ol Xband blaring. Earlier I followed an NJSP I/O ing motorists with 34.7 SB on Rte. 29 out of Frenchtown. He was being very selective too.;)

Not my county. They're rapidly upgrading from K to Ka.
Last I saw an X band radar unit in my area was a few months ago, and that was from an old town PD cruiser converted to a county PD cruiser after the merger.

What part of Ohio?
I've never seen it around any major metro area or highway, and I've driven from Cleveland down to Cincinnati to get through KY and down to NC (Tail of the Dragon).
A vast majority of the encounters I have in Ohio are LIDAR. If they're not LIDAR, they're almost always Ka. I saw a small amount of K down south somewhat, but pretty much the entire Ohio Hwy Patrol is using LIDAR these days from what I've seen. It'd be nice to know what guns they operate. ;)
