Doesn't surprise me at all really. Belscort cant protect against it? Downplay it.
Regardless of what he says, its an issue. Also...
The Valentine One takes a different approach. This very sensitive detector is designed to alert almost instantly to every radar signal, leaving it up to the driver to interpret the alert. It ships with POP mode engaged and this, coupled with high sensitivity, results in more false alerts, particularly in townI cant wait to read his first reviews of the redline.

The whole reason the Redline was built was to compete with the V1. I would think they would make it really responsive like the V1, if it still has lag and misses I/O shots like some other Escort models whats the point? I guess further testing when it ships, will show if it still will have these issues. That defense article written by Craig P. makes me think those issues have not been resolved.
Also does not seem like Escort is taking this issue very seriously which is very disappointing. They would just rather say we are crazy, and all the good cops around have to much integrity to use Q/T.

Has anybody read this from valentine research?
Detector Tests... What you should know (http://web.archive.org/web/20011219212748/http://www.valentine1.com/lab/V1Hater.asp)
"If you're standing on the brakes -- and I mean braking to the point of feeling the telltale shudder of the ABS -- within one second of an alert, you may have a chance. He'll probably have your speed but if he's a stand-up guy, he may well elect not to make the stop."
"Why not issue a ticket? ...... I can count on both hands the occasions when I've hit the Transmit button and seen the front of the violator's car suddenly dip in response. In the radar's Target Speed display I'm watching the number tumbling, dropping 20 or 30 mph almost instantly. The guy may be over the limit but he's clearly taking care of business. It's a safe bet that someone exhibiting this level of situational awareness is probably driving safely."The above are 2 incredibly negligent statements.(borderline idiotic)
- A stand up LEO should let someone go who jams on his brakes to the point of abs activation within one second of an alert??????? Do you really think someone can be surprised by an alert, asses it's validity, check the rearview mirror to determine if enough distance exists between himself and the vehicle behind, then apply full braking within one second?
Honestly, that is waaay more dangerous than the speeding violation, and if I were an LEO, I wouldn't hesitate to pull the heavy braker over every time.

It's funny that the ability to detect short burst I/O wasn't even an major issue until some members of this forum brought it to our attention a few weeks ago. We were all aware of response times in milliseconds, but when put to tests, there are striking differences between the top end products. Now that the info is publically known, the shills come out of the woodwork defending what is in fact a deficiency in some products.

Isn't that amazing? Before it was if you want quiet, go Escort. If you want sustained levels of hysteria, go VR. Now, it's if you want quiet...and I/O isn't used in your area....and QT aren't used in your area, go Escort. All others, do not pass go, go driectly to VR.

Who needs two antennas facing opposite directions when radar will bounce into one antenna just fine?
Who needs good laser detection when it will only tell you when to pull over for the cop?
Who needs a magnesium case when a plastic case is just as strong and will never melt in the sun?
Who needs arrows when you should just slow down regardless of where the cop is?
Who needs awesome resale value when a new detector that is supposed to be the latest and greatest will be released in three years?
Who needs a direct-wire kit when a coily cord wrapped around your rear view mirror looks so damn good?
Who needs a visor clip when people prefer sticking big suction cups all over their windshield to alert thieves to their valuables?
Who wants to hear alerts from a cop in a high falsing area when a satellite spinning would be so much more convenient?
Who wants to be bothered with quick trigger and instant-on radar threats when people want a quiet detector?
Who is tired of listening to a washed up liar hasbeen and neverwas try to tell people what he thinks is important because he rides Belscort's cock all day long? Who is tired of hearing rants from a jackass that decided it was a good idea to put a radar gun on top of a mountain to screw up testing by the most respected radar detector and laser jammer testing group in the entire world?

Its all a sales spin....I think we all realize that radar detectors (all models and mfrs) have strengths and weaknesses. I'm glad the arm chair guys regularly test and point out these issues. I wish Escort and Valentine would address these issues sooner rather than later.

OK, so I can't +1 to <<JAZZY>>'s post (no matter how much I'd like to), because that's a little too extreme. ;)
But.....
J/
That's a big and enthusiastic +1, bruddah.
The people making the products need to stop making excuses - and make a better product.
I don't care if Q/T is "legal." I don't care if it is ethical. I simply want to be defended against this threat.
At the roadside, are you really going to debate this issue with the enforcer? You're honestly going to ask him about his tracking/traffic history, during your interview - to question how he's doing his job? You really want to escalate the situation?
And so what if the enforcer wants to perjure him/herself? At that point, it's "he said, she said." Exactly what is a traffic attorney do, at that point, to embarrass the enforcer on the stand? Yes, I'd lover to see such a person with low morals/ethics be burned at the stake, but please, tell me how this can be done.....
Like our good brother above have said, the shills need to simply shut up, and realize that anyone with more than a double-digit IQ can easily see through their game.
WTF is this that CP thinks we're just now becoming hysterical about Q/T ?
Wanna do a quick search on these Forums, and see when Q/T was first mentioned?
Hell, I won't even do any specifics - I just searched for "quick trigger" as they keywords, and I'm bringing up posts as far back as 2005.
That's four years ago.
It's funny, isn't it, how when us independent hobbyists started making a fuss about this issue, of Escort's new baby - the RedLine - that suddenly, everyone who has an underlying agenda is quick to try to dismiss Q/T as a non-issue?

Do you really think someone can be surprised by an alert, asses it's validity, check the rearview mirror to determine if enough distance exists between himself and the vehicle behind, then apply full braking within one second?
Honestly, yes. :D
The only catch is that you need to ALWAYS know the distance to the cars all around you, as you know with those ahead. I'm not saying I always do that, but most often yes. Also, you don't need to assess the validity of a full signal IO Ka.
That said, while IMO hard braking is fine, why you'd need to go all the way to ABS braking (which creates more attention than it's worth), and especially at highway speeds (which makes it plain stupid), is a different question ;)
Then again, what do you expect from a mountain climber?

If we cant react in about a second than having a RD is useless. We might as well just get rid of everything now. :o

How many years has this gone on for? The mere mention of this guy's name reels off pages from angry V1 owners. If nobody cares, then why all the interest?
The V1 is a great detector and that is an established fact. It can't be changed. It is better than all but the very top two or three so-called "Belscort" detectors. And yeah, Bel detectors are inconsistent on I/O, at least my STi Driver is.
Why does Craig Petersen matter? He's just a guy with another opinion.

Honestly, that is waaay more dangerous than the speeding violation, and if I were an LEO, I wouldn't hesitate to pull the heavy braker over every time.
AMEN!!! The only time I've gotten a ticket was when I met a LEO in a curve on a 2 lane and like a dummy, I was about 15 over with no rabbits ahead of me. So I slammed on the brakes when V1 sounded and actually went below the speed limit. The first thing the cop said was "I noticed you slowed way down.. you must have seen me when I came around the curve (not seeing the V1)." So my drastic change in speed was what attracted his attention more than the actual speed, in my opinion. I'm not saying that you shouldn't panic brake in certain instances but if you need to drop 20-30 mph to avoid a ticket, you're probably going too fast anyway (did I just say that?) :) If you're doing 85 in a 55 and you're the lead dog, you get no sympathy from me. If you're following a rabbit doing 70 in a 55 and he gets zapped, I say get below 65 in a timely fashion, and you're probably golden.
