I am on a very tight budget, and would like to know what is the best performance for price under $200. I have researched heavily the Whistler Pro 73, Cobra 9780 and 9700. How do these 3 models stack up against each other and what other models should i look into? Please help me, i'm really new to all the radar detector stuff, and i i live in NC if that helps any?

Out of those three, I would recommend the Whistler. See our test results here:

But there are other options out there. For example I have heard good things on here about the BEL 795...
Edit: BTW, we would appreciate it if you only post your question in one forum, "double posting" is frowned upon...

Did someone delete my post? Anyways, I wouldnt recommend a cobra, I would lean more toward a BEL, they know what they are doing.

No, he double-posted in the BEL/Escort forum too, that's the one you answered :)

Stay away from the Crapras. No matter how many features they throw at you, they're still substandard crap.
Go with the Whistler Pro-58/73 or a Bel Express series detector.

Agreed...
Whatever you do.... don't get a Cobra. You will just be creating falses for other Radar Detector users. You know how much you love falses.
Out of those three, go with the Whistler. I am becoming a fan of Beltronics though. I don't know about the lower end stuff, but my RX65 is very high quality.

^Really? Last time I went to my moms, the RX65 was acting a little sketchy...
