View Full Version : Cobra Has Great Laser Detection???

I know this should go under the Cobra topic, but it wouldn't
get as many responses. So if you move it to the Cobra topic
I can understand why.
I previously owned a Cobra XRS-9700 and the Laser detection
was awsome! I only had it go off on laser once, and I saw the
cop shortly after it did, and never had a false alert on it. So I
was wondering if anyone would comment on it's laser detection?
Cobra says it detects laser at 910nm +/-50nm, why don't they
just make it to detect 904nm since all other radar detectors do
that, other then the V1.

Yea this is very true! I have ma friend that bought my 9600 (same thing as 9700 only no voice) and he has claimed hes gotten advanced warning on laser about 4 or 5 times.
I used my RD tester (using the laser) and tested the cobra, I could aim at the roof and it would go off.
The laser detection is really up there!

I second that, tested the laser detection and believe it or not, its up there with the V1! It could be mounted high, it detects license plate shots, and low detects as well. Very superb, too bad the radar detection is horrible. In some occasions, not even a 1/4 mile even with direct line-of-sight :cry: .

My fav feature was how it will tell you what gun yuo are getting hit with.
Cobra has some nice features. The city modes, smartpower, INTELLIMUTE, but the radar detection is just... blah

j/w but how is it able to distinguish the diff guns?

We tried it at GOL, and it isn't always correct...

It was about 50% accurate with naming what gun it was. It does not distinguish the stalker or laser atlanta, it will say laser 20/20
I imagine it can tell by the different pulse rates of the laser.
