Radar detector for a motorcycle

Hi,
this may be a stupid question but hopefully you guys can help me...

I just purchased a escort solo s2 cordless for my motorcycle, and have been reading though many forums on where exactly to mount it
a number of forums said that it works through a tank bag, but i wanted to know would it still be able to detect radars if it is in my jeans pocket??

either way i would have to wire headphones to it so i can hear it beep, since i doubt i would be able to hear it over the exhaust

would the reading be reduced significantly? would it work at all? or would it just be a minor difference if i put it in my jeans or jacket pocket

You will want it pointed in the direction you are driving. Radar isn't effected much by non-metallic objects so you can have it behind plastic or cloth with little loss of radar detection. You will totally lose laser detection with any non-transparent obstruction.
