Just thinking out loud
The idea I have had is to get a standard project box from Radio Shack and mount some high intensity leds in it along with a cheap, old, beat up radar detector in it. First take the detector out of it's case leaving only the circuit board with the leds and speaker on it disconnected (Small Cobra unit would do) and mount it inside. Have a small switch that will turn on the leds on the bottom of box and a hidden one for the rd in the box. You hardwire this and mount it on the ceiling of your vehicle above the center of the dash like a reading light. Since the RDD is not portable (It is mounted/wired in patrol car), it can't be a handheld unit that I know of to wand the car. When in VA or such, you flip hidden switch on and turn on non alerting detector. Cop nabs it with spectre, but when vehicle is looked at nothing is found unless he tears the project box apart. To him/her, it is simply a set of leds used for a map light and it can be demonstrated as such. For those who would ask why do it, the cop is dealing with you. How many people drive by as he/she wastes their time looking for something hidden in plain sight? How many have you just saved from a ticket? And if done correctly in the building, the burden of proof is on the officer to prove you had a radar detector in the vehicle. Want to go further?? Ham ops can have home-brew gadgets in the vehicle with the radio gear that can explain away things. Just my thoughts on confusion. Be well :-)

A+ for ingenuity, F for applicability.

If you get tagged with a Spectre here VA/DC, you will get a ticket if you refuse to show the cop the RD (and most likely if you produce the RD anyway). These cops that run Spectre aren't stupid, they don't run it when there's a **** ton of traffic - they will stop you for a Spectre violation if they know its you.

If they pick up an RD in the illegal parts of Canada, this would get your car torn apart until they find it.

There aren't enough other devices on the market that produce the waves that Spectre picks up to plead that defense, either.

If you are worried about Spectre, get an RDD proof RD and be done with it.

Sorry.

I just was looking for a way to waste their time.

That's an even worse idea, especially one posted on a forum of enthusiasts.

My idea would be to design a device that does not detect radar and simply sets of spectre and drive around VA until you get nailed for it, do this a few times to set an example to the courts that Spectre is violating the 4th amendment.

Sounds like a fun idea, except I'm not going anywhere without my RD and if they start looking they will find it. I'm Spectre immune so no need to attract unwanted attention.

Besides if they look hard enough they can find some reason to write you up for something. There must be a million state and federal laws, I guarantee you to be in violation of one of them no matter how perfect you are.

As SS would say, getting stopped is a fail!!!
