View Full Version : Still unsure if mine is working correctly...

Hey guys,

I'm honestly not sure if my LI is working properly, the unit itself is working, says "Welcome" every morning (what a nice girl ha ha), and parking sensors work.

I'm just not sure, the other day when I was driving my car, my radar went off, but nothing from the LI, I know placement can make or break it, but is there any other way of checking besides finding someone who has the guns?

When you say your "radar" went off, did it go off with a laser alert? Did you see the LEO? If it was radar (X, K, or Ka band), the LI will do nothing, since it only jams laser. What detector are you using? V1?

If the detector gave a laser alert, it could have been a false, caused by an adaptive cruise control on another car, or the sun. The V1 is particularly sensitive to laser so it is also more prone to laser falses than other detectors.

A way to test basic functionality (to see if the jammer is receiving and transmitting) is to shoot a TV remote at the sensing "eye" in the head and watching through a cellphone camera or a video camera in night mode to see if it's firing back. Do this for both/all heads.

To test actual jamming performance, you'll need to find someone who owns a gun, or rent one.

+1 WHS

Radar doesn't mean laser, so if you got a radar alert, ie X or K band, then your LI wouldn't have picked off on that. If your RD gave you laser alert, could've been something random like scatter. If it was definitely laser, and you drove by the LEO and saw him operate the LIDAR, then maybe your install is bad. Only way to know for sure would be to actaully get it tested. Look for local testing days and try to get in on it. They're posted in the regional section. Post pics of your setup... I'm sure the experts can give their 2 cents.

AH!

Okay that totally makes sense, I didn't know what the difference is, so I just have to wait for a LEO with a gun, and then it'll jam it. Thanks for explaining that to a noob!

Better to have a non-LEO test it for you. If you jam a real LEO, you won't know if you jammed him successfully, and with real LEOs you don't want to jam-to-gun anyway, as that will raise suspicion (especially if jammers are illegal where you are). For real-life situations, you should promptly slow down and shut the jammers off when shot, so the LEO will get a speed reading, just the speed you want him to see. ;)

With a "civilian" you can test JTG (jam-to-gun) performance and do multiple passes, plus they'll help you tweak things if they aren't kosher.

yeah that's a very good point, however, no one is close to me to do it, but I had intended to just slow down and shut it off and look for his reaction. I haven't been speeding anyway

This is a laser jammer cheif, not a radar jammer. Your LI only jams lidar, not radar. Like others stated, the only real way to see if your heads are firing is to get a TV remote and point it at it. Otherwise, get your set up tested by a forum member. Members with guns can be found here:

Will the TV remote set off the LI? I read somewhere you need to be looking through a camera's screen while pointing a TV remote at it.

Where are you located? There are a lot of members here with lidar guns that can help. Let us know where you are and maybe we can put you in touch with someone. Really the only way to know is testing.

It's impossible to judge by encounters with LEO's, unless you are running about 30 over when targeted!

I was personally wondering if there was anyone with lidar on Vancouver Island? I need to get mine tested.

Yes, some will set it off if you push the volume button a lot, very quickly.

It's better to get a real test done though.

yeah I kinda figured out what it was for. No need for the smart remark there. Anyway, I haven't been able to check with anyone yet, but I know there's a group in the Dallas area. However, that's three hours away from me, I guess I'll make it when they have another radar party lol
