heres the deal, i have an s-10, which by all means isnt fast but i do get above 80 on the freeway. anyways, i cant mount it way high like recommended on here becasue of the way the rear view mirror is. I can only mount low or semi-high (about 5 or so inches higher than low). Does high vs. low make all that much of difference? should i try and make high work? thanks.

I say just mount below the mirror.

that extra few inches makes a difference? will this impare my laser significantly or just a little by being up high?

That all depends on the detector. Some are good enough at scatter detection that it really doesn't matter where it is for laser (V1, Whistlers, X50).

With most modern Bel products, it has to be a direct hit.

You're probably not going to notice any difference in radar detection, the only thing I could see would be maybe very weak instant-on.

Here is the best article on mounting i've ever seen

I say just mount below the mirror.this is the 2 best place to mount a rd.I think you will get more rear range on a x50 when mounted below the review mirror :D
