I have a Solo S2. I would like to get one of those new detector-proof detectors since I live in Va. Due to restrictions, the best place to mount my detector is on the left corner of the dash, so as to not attract attention.
I would like to modify the power wire so, if stopped, it would not show; that would mean not wired to the lighter, of course, but probably coming out the left side of the dash pad somehow.
I was possibly thinking of some sort of quick release, so as being able to pull on the power cord and seperate with the connection not showing.
I'm sure some of you guys have done this, so I was wondering what you did.
Thanks in advance. I appreciate any input.

All you need is a hardwire kit, which is what most of us seem to use. It gets power directly from the vehicles wiring (from the fuse box or otherwise) so that you can route the power cord any way you choose. The typical method is to tuck it behind the trim panels so that only a short length appears right where your detector is located. If you need to stash it you just unplug the cord at the detector and tuck it away.
I have a home made solution for you . Let me time to picture the setting .
You need to know so soldering = easy.
One wire will be the ground . Next the positive .
When you will pull the setting = only 2 dumb wires will show.

You basically have 2 options to hide the detector in my opinion. Depending on the design of your windshiled you may be able to hide the detector from the LEO's eyes if you mount it high behind the tinted part of the window. Another option is get a visor mount and mount it on the visor, just make sure the detector is level. And of course if you are worried about the display attracting attention, run it in full dark mode.
With either option, you can hardwire the detector by tapping a power source by the maps lights or rearview mirror.
If you don't want to hardwire, go buy a dual phone line "double female" adapter to link 2 phone lines together. You need the 2 phone line adapter(RJ11 with 4 contacts) and wires if you want to utilize the remote mute button on Escort and Bel's. Plug the detector power cord into the lighter socket and plug the other end into the adapter. Next plug the phone wire in the other end of the adapter. Then run the phone wire tucking it in by the pilar and roof(if your car permits) to the detector.
it is very basic : male - female .
The negative will always be male = this to avoid shortcut circuit .
The positive = female = tube = cover it with tape or better shrinking tube = avoid shortcut.
Hope it is clear enough for pic and explanation.
Any combination of tube + needle = so the contact is solid enough but can separates when pulling gently .

Tube from fashion jewelry parts , could be from anywhere as long it is small and convenient.

It costs few cents , so practice untill satisfaction

does it make a difference if the rd is mounted behind the tint on the top of the windshield?
