Does anyone have suggestions for some nice headlights. For the record I did have Sylvania SilverStars but they blew out in a few weeks because of my stupid daytime running lamps. I have no way of shutting that feature off.

Thanks
Mayur

What car do you have ? Most DRLs can be disabled...Silverstars are the best IMO unless you want to go with HID.

Can't you just pull the daytime running light fuse?

Hmm... I really like my DRL though :P I was talking to one of my cousins the other day and he said he knows a guy that replaces the bulbs if they ever die out. I'll have to ask him about this.

Mayur, I have a feeling that the DRLs aren't what caused your bulbs to blow. I have had Silverstars on my car for about a year w/o any problems and I have my lights on (full strength) at least 2 hrs. if not more a day. My low beams are modified 9005 bulbs (the 65watt bulb designed for 9006 high beam applications), but running as my low beams. The most important thing to remember is to clean your bulbs thoroughly with an alcohol based cleaner or even isopropil alcohol that you get in the "first aid" section of most stores. This will remove any oils from fingers that were left on the bulb that causes most premature bulb failures. I use Stoner's Invisible Glass since I usually have cans laying around. I clean each bulb a couple of times to make sure to get them completely clean. Make sure you don't touch the glass portion of the bulbs w/any part of your hand when installing them. I have also been using an aftermarket headlight relay to get "all" the juice to my lights, so that may have something to do with it. I have more details about bulbs and the upgraded harness here if you are interested:

hmm I think I found out the problem. The Silver Stars were put in by my dad when my mom still had the car. I asked him about the bulbs and he said he got them off ebay and they came wrapped in bubble wrap :? I'm going out to buy brand new ones from the store and going to see how long they last.

Put some in my wifes car, looks great and have lasted over a year already, they should last the same as a OEM bulb with normal exceptions.

Make sure you do not touch them with your fingers, oil from your hands can cause a bulb to prematurely burn out.

When I installed the SilverStars, I installed one just to see the difference from the stock OEM, big difference. I also got tricked buying the Sylvania CoolBlue, those were ok, defenitly not blue at all. The SilverStars are not blue either, but definitly are "hyper white".

Oh and another thing, at least you do not need to worry about possible electrical met down with some other high wattage color bulbs.

Just bought some bulbs and installed them. They look great just like how they did when they used to be on there. I'll see how long these last.
