Default Bel changes Sti claims on their website

Apparently the Belscort people also read this forum.

They have removed the claim that the Sti will be undetectable by future technology from their website.

However, they still have links to their advertisements which do make the claim that the Sti's are undetectable by current and future technology.

Note to Bel: I've downloaded and saved the ads so I can repost them here (and everywhere else I can find) should you remove them from your webpage as well.

That doesn't leave a real good taste in your mouth does it.
I just off the phone with them and she gave the run around that that band is used by TV, ham radio, ect and not a problem.
NOW if this was not a problem then why change your web site ad?
SHE said that nothing had changed
so i guess thats it i was just dreaming all that stuff that was wrote on ther site
just like when bobby was killed on dallas

I said that at the early beginning that I think they will come out with something to detect the STI, you know it's a cat and mouse game. :?

Well its very apparent that they read this forum (a lot)... and has been for a while, you should have seen what they did when someone posted a link to the STi page (pre-release), within an hour or two they had the page down.

To bad they don't listen to us when we say: WE WANT BETTER CUSTOMER SERVICE!

I think that they should do that... as they dont know what the future will bring, and the fact that they advertise(d) that, it could be considered false advertising on their part (if somehow something in the future can actually detect them constantly without detecting everything else in the world).

That is exactly the point. Trying to detect a frequency which is very common is a losing proposition as a cost effective means of finding RD's. Maybe if you live in the tundra doing this is a reasonable expenditure of time and effort for the police. For anywhere else it is most likely useless. Aside from the various devices assigned to this frequency you have all the harmonics from other devices probably floating around.

Of all the things you need to worry about I wouldn't put this anywhere near the top of the list. Should Beltronics fix it? Yes but it is not the end of the world as some seem to think.

Anyone who bought a Bel, had to know that eventually something might come out. If the STi can survive at least 2 years, that will be a pretty good run. Not to mention that it takes time to get a new spectre out into the streets. Police already invested in older spectre tecchnology are not going to sink more money into a technology that is only for 1-2% of the population that actually has a STi. So if they use the newest find to detect the STi, it will be awhile. On top of that, Bel may have a quick fix for the IF signal leak. If that is the case the spectre will still have no chance. Still a question of what kind of falses a spectre like that might have, that alone can stop the spectre from use.

Yeah, thats sort of what I meant with customer service: The whole lot of their (Belscorts) problems after the sale:

Here are some points to those at Belscort:

-When you promise that a unit can be upgraded, MAKE IT SO, dont replace the unit(s).

-Be done with the (outlandish) fee to get things fixed... Lower the price. (Escort is much better then Bel in this department as I understand.)

-Fix the problem when it is sent back the first time.

-When there is a problem with (the) actual unit, fix them for free, PROMPTLY. That is key (such as the older X50 Revs having self cal/Ser Req problems, and the RX65's still having them).

-Quicken the pace on (service) transactions.
