Seriously, I know that sounds like a cop-out (no pun intended), but they aren't "POLICE detectors". Usually, it isn't a "FALSE" in the truest sense.....because there is SOMETHING that is setting it off....just not police radar! But the one thing it proves is that the detector is sensitive....I called mine a "Walgreens detector" the first few days because every Walgreens in town set it off with their electronic doors (not even when they are activated, but just the sensors being in place and ready would set it off from a block or so up the road).

Anyway, I know that isn't real comforting, StandingCow.....and while the new software version (if you have the older) SHOULD produce a little better filtering, I would still expect the falses. ALL detectors have their fair share...just go to the Valentine, Escort, Whistler, etc. forums.....you 'll see what I mean. You can literally read thread after thread where people complain about the falsing issues. But just remember that it's a RADAR detector, and NOT a "police detector", and once you learn what sets it off at which locations, you can pretty much accept the "police radar falses"....the one time it saves you from a $100+ speeding ticket you'll think putting up with the falses was worth it......
Oh, yea I know I have learned when to pay attention and when not to, I just thought it would make sense for them to have the filter ignore 2 bar K band.

Good point! I would not want to decrease K band sensitivity. With all the instant on being used, that would be very risky. That is probably why BEL took K band filtering out of Autoscan. I would rather pick up the door openers.

Shame they dont have the decreased sensitivity for K like they do X.
I have very few falses in Autoscan mode with my x65. However, that is not to say I wouldn't have just as many falses as you if I was driving the same routes you take.

I agree that a cool feature would be if they added a way to decrease the K band sensitivity. Then again K is still being widely used, so it might not be a good idea.

    CC

How many K falses do you get with Hwy mode vs autoscan?

I've been testing this feature a lot since getting my x65. From what I can tell autoscan seems to false less on X and K vs hwy mode. I know for sure it is cutting down on the X band range, bec I have been testing it on a stretch of road where there is X band from a Osco drug store. In hwy mode it goes off about 3 blocks away from the X source. In autoscan it doesn't go off until I am about directly even with the source. It is a brief alert that hits 6-7 and then stops. In city mode it reacts about the same way to the X source as autoscan mode.

The last good detector I had was the Bel 996, which had unreal range in it's day. I do clearly remember it would false a bit sooner and longer in this same strech of road as what my x65 does. However, I would say the filtering has been greatly improved since the 996 days. And, I would say the rang is as good if not better than the old 996.

Again, I believe autoscan mode is cutting down on the K falses, but I do need to do futher testing to see if it really is flitering the K falses better. I will keep you posted.

Autoscan on the RX 65 may not affect K band. I tried to view some of the BEL owner's manuals on their site and my Adobe Acrobat Reader locked up. Not doing that again.

I have a 985 and Autoscan does affect K band. But I think BEL changed it after that.

    DITTO!

Thanks for sharing, guys.....and no offense, but I'm personally glad to know that others have experienced this as well, and that it is a Beltronics problem and has nothing to do with my Abode Reader or PC....

Default must say. k and ka band is awesome with the bel 995v

i dont know about the pro series. but we have same detector but different options like threat display, and its not my fault they only sell the hi end vector units at circuit city so i had to buy that 995 and i love it hooked into my lp905 for laser.
the ka and k band range is excellent. dtr
