i've noticed that if you brake with any cop youre screwed. next time its foot off the gas. chances are your STi was ok. i pick up constant on Ka all the time with OPP. he was probably not running radar and wouldve let you go if you hadnt braked. braking is stupid imho...the two times i braked i got a ticket and when i didnt several dozen times there was no action on the part of the cop even though i was 20 over PSL. they watch for brake lights and the front nose diving...this means that you know you were speeding and just admitted it so youre unlikely to fight the ticket. i managed to even avoid a ticket for doing 60 in a 30 by releasing the pedal and letting engine braking handle it so that i rolled by the cop at 30 although he was using K band to light me up for a mile.

...... Mucho Deleted .........
When I was pulled over I initially thought, as I had no RD warning, that the OPP could now detect the STi. That was obviously not the case. My second thought was that the RD failed. I now doubt this as it has worked since on X and K. I am down to my third thought, that the OPP officer pulled me over for another reason (possible stolen car etc.) and then wrote me up because he thought I was speeding. I do not know how fast I was going at the time. It could have been anywhere between 100 and 125. The officer's 110 reply to my question seems too round a number to be plausible.
4th Reason - Guilty Conscience. If they see the vehicle dive they know you are scrubbing off speed and they have a pretty good idea of the basic speed people do on the roads anyways. So they just quote you a number that seems close to what they observed. (Notice he didn't say 109 or 112, but 110 exactly. Just like he yanked the number of of somewhere)
Fight the ticket. Send it in. I live in Ontario and I am familiar with the drill. The ticket does not appear on your record untill you are found guilty. When you send it in you sign the "Not Guilty, Want Court Date" section on the back. The courts are so backlogged it will take them a year or more to get around to it. When (if) they find you guilty, the ticket is on your licence 2 years (I think thats the time limit) from the date of _OFFENCE_. So by the time it actually appears on your record, you've already used up one year. Furthermore, with a bit of luck, it will get turfed outright because they cant get around to it in time. (Something about due process the courts are required to hear the case within two years). In the very least you limit the time its one your record. With a bit of luck, it may get turfed.
(Note, the time limits for how long a ticket remains on your record relate to the government and your drivers licence. Not the insurance industry and their coverage of you)
EDIT: I've poked around. There's lotsa info (lot more than I've given you here) on fighting tickets on this forum. Take a look yourself.
Got a ticket myself in rural-west Ottawa almost two years ago. (One of the reasons I recently picked up an STi for myself). Still waiting for the court date and I have my fingers crossed it will pass the 2 year limit before they do get around to it (3 months to go!)
So definitely, fight the ticket. You've got nothing to lose, everything to gain.
Hope this helps
