    Default Bel RX65 experience

Just got a new one last week. I could not make up my mind between the V1, X50,and the RX65. What it came down to was the V1 was just too darn expensive, and the X50 and RX65 are very similar so went with the fact that Bel gives a great trade-in program making the RX65 a great deal.

Now to the story. I was going down the highway with my Bel Rx65 on HWY KA USA mode, and it started to beep and then stopped. Since this area has never given me a false KA I slowed down. Again it beeped a couple of times and went off. In the distance I could see the hill and was sure that was were the LEO was at. My RD continued the off and on beeps while 2 cars one with a V1 and I think one with a Cobra RD passed me going very fast. Again my RD continued with the alarms. I wondered if my detector was falsing since the V1 was apparently not picking up this fairly regular off and on signal. (The cobra did not suprise me). Then all of the sudden the 2 cars that passed me approched the top of that hill and guess what...yup the breaklights came on and the back end of both cards went up in the air in panic.

Not sure the distance, but the most impressive thing is that it was over the hill, and the LEO was facing away from the hill away from our direction. As soon as I topped the hill (going 5 miles under the PSL) my RD went nuts. Then a little later behind me he pulls someone over.

Anyway this was my first LEO for this RX65, and I was impressed. I hope it keeps up the good work.

Also some complained about the ramp up on the RX65 and Bels in general. Mine seems to do just fine. Maybe V. 6.3 helped???

I know a few people have complained about the RX65 ramp up,but mine has been great also.I don't have a problem with detection distances or anything.Guess i lucked out and got a good one. That's why i don't have a reason to go any other way.

That is a good save for sure! I think some of us complain about the ramp up on the Bel products because they don't ramp up as smoothly as the V1, or X50.

I love my STi, but the ramp up is really bad compared to my V1. It's not a huge deal to me, because I drive smart and pay attention when I get alerts, but when you pay $300+ for a RD you have certain expectations.

My RX65 ramps up better than my STi, but once you get use to the smooth, accurate ramp up of the V1/X50, you start to depend on that "tone" to help you gauge distance from the source.

I think some of us would like to see this issue addressed by Bel, but that is no easy task since Bel is in denial about any ramp up "issue" with the STi.

I have no complaints about the ramp up on my rx65

it makes sense to me and is fairly linear.

Wow, very nice save here. Makes me think that the V1 is not that good at detecting Ka over hills and around bends like some other forum members have concluded. Have only had my V1 for about 2 weeks so I have not had any experiences with hills and curves yet. Again, great job by your RX-65.

Keep in mind that it could may have been the Crapra you were picking up and not the radar at that distance. Just a possibility. If that is not the case then it's a great save.

You can still pick up Crapras in USA mode. I have seen them false at 33.7 GHz.

Possible, but doubt it. I was picking up the LEO well before the other 2 cars were close enough to be able to cause a false.

Funny how when you get a new RD you are wanting to find LEOs to be able to see how your new purchase is performing....and now in my 1st week. I have passed 2....only 2. Usually seems like 2 per DAY on the way to and from work.

Appears to be a good save then.

Yes, the quickest way to make radar traps disappear is to buy a new RD and drive around testing it. Works every time!
