Bel 745i still useful?

Typically, when I replace a detector with a new one I keep the old one or give it to one of my children. Son Ryan got the 745i but does not use it at all so, I may go on a reclaimation mission and get it back from him. But is it still useful with radar improvements of the last few years? I also have an RX-55 and a RX-65. Would the 745i be superior to the RX-55? If so I would start using it again as back-up or in our second car in place of the RX-55

NO!!!!!! I would not trust it!!! I owned 6 or 7 of them, all except the first were warranty replacements from BEL. They used to replace them, not repair them. They are not even close to the current 9XX series nor the RX-65.

Had that too! Just as bad as 745i. The older BEL XKR series had much better X and K band reception. IMHO, the 745 snd 845 do not have adequate protection against instant on K band.

Hey GTO. Watch out on this Bel 745sti. I had one I bought for kicks, and it almost constantly falsed on k band. I had to get rid of it.

Yup, been there done that LOL! And they falsed on Ka band too! I could be out in the country with no cars for miles, and it would still false on Ka band!
