Default STi run too hot for velcro mounting?

Just noticed that the top of my RVM has a nice wide flat surface. I could mount my STi to it using the included velcro strips. Only concern would be that it wouldnt be stable enough and/or the heat from the magnesium case would cause the adhesive on the back of the velcro pieces to lose adhesion.

Thoughts? (the top of my RVM is probably 3 inches wide)

I was thinking the same thing about the mirror. I was also thinking about the spot that curves on the dashboard behind the steering wheel. I used the velcro to mount the mute button (which doesn't weigh much compared to the detector) in my car. At first it didn't stick well but after it sat about half a day it really stuck. I would also like to hear about other peoples success with using the velcro adhesive that came with the detector. I know it has been covered somewhat in other threads about mounting, but I was wondering about any recent cases.

Go to RadioShack and get their superlock velcro type fastners, then you mount it over the mirror if you want. There is a thread that I asked the same Q about, but I am too lazy to search for it.
