STi false Ka band?

My friend and I each have an STi in our motorcycle tank bags. Both STis were recently purchased. His STi was emitting Ka band alerts while we were outside his beach house garage. His STi was in his open tankbag top cover facing down toward the gas tank and it was Ka ing. My STi was facing ahead in my tankbag as quiet as a church mouse. Riding down some country road he was alerted of a Ka band. My STi was silent. There were about 2 building around the area and no LEOs.
My STi was alerting on other X, Ka before and after these episodes. It seems my STi is working correctly. I'm not sure his is.
Any ideas?
Also, will a RD alert near TV satellite dishes? If that is a stupid question, then it was from my friend. :-)

It can. I had a weak/intermittent Ka signal with a cheap detector from my own TV dish. BUT my STI has never alerted to this signal.

I'm guessing you have the same version?

My A2 will alert to the odd satellite dish.

I always drive by buildings with 100s of sat dishes, including the building I live in, never ever my STI (A4M9) gave me any K or Ka false alert because of the sat dishes, X is always disabled...

I'm not sure of the version or build dates, but we bought them both from radarroy within the last 2-3 months. i'll check on this.

Did your friend turn POP ON (default is OFF, at least for my version)? Most of the Ka falsing on my STi was when I enabled POP detection.
