    Default trading up from 895

Have an 895 and thinking of upgrading. It seems that the new vectors are all about the same in the tests I looked at except for one important area. In the instant on test the lowly 940 nailed the test all three time while the other vectors tested only got it one our of three. I know that even the same models vary a little in performance. How did the 940 do well on this test and the others not as good when they are all about the same? And, if anyone has gone from the 895 to a 940, 955, 995 please chime in. I have enjoyed my 895 but it seems that these newer models are even better, I think. Thanks all.

Apparently the Vectors are not great at sniffing out short signals. Its a coincidence the 940 did so well.

IO detection down the road could be a lot better. I was driving on I-10 and I had rabbits ahead of me, and as soon as I rolled past some brush that covered the median, I got blasted by IO, thank goodness I wasnt speeding because I would have been toast. Either a couple of things happened here:

1.) The cop sought me out, and didnt gun the cars ahead of me maybe because he picked me up on spectre or something

    OR

2.) The V940 has some shortcomings when it comes to short signals down the road.

Its not a bad model, but with this kind of equipment, you definitely get what you pay for, its good but its no valentine 1.

Not so sure about that. Ive had no problems at all with picking up short IO bursts with my m4 995. My s7 940 also performs in excellent fashion with IO bursts.

In short, based on my real world experiences with Vector's, they perform just fine with IO. IMHO

Is it possible that the same tests performed again could show say the 955 or 995 grabbing all three or would that be too much of a variance considering the tolerances that they are manufactured to?

It seems that the 955 and my 895 are the same. I think I remember something about this right after I bought it. This stuff gets kind of confusing. Mayby it should be the 995 or stay with the 895. Sound smart or no?

I am interested to see more GOL tests on IO detection. All I know is my Pro 78 picked it up all 3 times.

Any of the Vector's are decent. I went with the 995 for the frequency display and the ability to shut X down when I am back in SE Michigan.

It all depends if the extras are worth the extra $$ for you. If they are, then sure, the 995 is a good choice.

Just to be clear the 940 is the only one that you cannot shut of x band. The others you can in some form or other?

955 and up can shut off X. 940 has a Low X city mode.
