Vector 955...Dead!

Let me just say first that I owned a Bel Vector 940, purchased all the way back in 2002, and the thing worked great! After 6 years of service, and thousands of dollars in potential tickets saved, I decided to retire " Bianca" as I called her. I decided to buy a new vector 955 back in March. Much to my surprise, after only 2 months, my new V955 is dead. Everything "looks" fine with it (the display and audio works perfectly), but it just doesn't detect radar...a very scary situation! Now I'll never trust it again...or another Belscort for that matter. I know QC problems happen, but let this be a warning to any potential buyers!

Did you buy it brand-new? and from where?

If you bought it from any major retailer like BB or CC, or directly from Beltronics, you have 1 year of full warranty so FREE repair... do you still have the original receipt?

Have you thought about sending it back? Belscort will fix it for you. When its fixed, it will take some time, but you can gain your confidence back. :wink:

Hey thanks for the replies!

I bought it from CC, and do have the receipt. I am in the process of sending it back, but the trust issue is a factor. I really don't want to drive by another PA state cop with his arm out the window holding a radar gun and get nothing from the detector.

Seems pretty drastic to me. Your first one worked fine for 6 yrs. But one bad one which will be taken care of by Bel. Now you will never trust them again.

How about the power cord? Remember, the BelEscort p/cd's do go bad. I have had probably 8 p/cd's go bad already. Check the p/cd first!
