Default RX65 emitted a puff of smoke

I had my RX65 emit a puff of smoke and then it had an electrical burning smell, but seemed to still work. However, since it is still under warranty, I sent it back to Beltronics. Does anyone know if they try to fix my unit or do they send a new one to replace it?

They'll fix it most likely. Though if it's badly damaged, the "fix" may be to replace the entire innards.

    The mojo escaped!

Sometimes they can refill it, but often they can't.

Never ever let the smoke out of an electronic device!

One of the lesser known theories of electronics is the "smoke theory".

Smoke Theory: All electronic equipment runs on smoke. Once you let all the smoke escape from an electronic device, it will no longer function.

I learned this theory in high school electronic, USMC electronics, and even college electronics classes. And I have demonstrated this theory to be true on more than a few occasions.

...I would send that thing in.

Oh I have proven the theory true a few times myself. You let the magic blue smoke out and you can kiss the component goodbye.
