    Default Cleaning STI-R radar head?

I was wondering if anyone here cleans their radar heads or if it is safe to do so. I got a ticket for 90 in a 70 with my STI-R. My STI-R did alert to 35.5 ka band. I did not detect him prior. The shot was off axis. I am sure that my STI-R is working fine, but I am thinking about cleaning the radar head to see if range increases. Range does appear to be shorter but I think it is because most officers are now using Instant On in my area. If it is safe to clean, what is the best way to clean the radar head? Maybe just a damp cloth?

For those who are wondering about the ticket, it has already been dismissed as of last week. The officer did not properly calibrate his radar gun. What hinted me to check was that my speedometer read 81 mph when he shot me. I just didn't argue with him, took the ticket and talked to the clerk of courts and the rest is history. I got really lucky in this scenario, my driving record remains clean.

By the way, it's great to be back.

I'd try a bit of water + light detergent (baby shampoo) and a microfiber cloth

Okay thanks, I am hoping this will help increase the sensitivity of my unit. I've had it for over a year now so I am sure that the radar head is pretty dirty.

im pretty sure it should especially if it's crusted on there.

but find a speed radar sign, and try to do a control run first to see if it does improve!

It is unfortunate but no one is nice enough to place a radar sign anywhere around my city otherwise I certainly would do that.

Denatured alcohol works well. Or just good old Windex does the trick too. What ever you do DON'T use acetone. I destroyed my zr4's wiping them with that.
