bel pro300/escort x50/rx65 detectors in my opinion are better or about the same in radar detection
Independent testing puts those (along with the other M4-horn RD's) right about the same each time. A little variance...but possibly just manufacturing variance. We might find as much difference between two X50's or two RX65's.

If your driving situations involves a lot of stray signals and your preference to quiet them...I might suggest the GPS detectors from Escort/Bel. Once you spend a few days/week to lock out the falses (auto or manual), these RD's become spooky-quiet on your normal commute routes. Plus, the 9500ix, GX65, and PRO-500 have the same M4 horn were talking about, so the raw performance is pretty much the same.

The 9500ix is their best-selling and has most every bell and whistle
The GX65 is the outgoing model and is a smoking deal right now (sometimes within $30 of an X50)
The PRO-500 is the updated GX65 and is less money than the 9500ix but has a few less features
....but again...all these have the same outright performance.

so your saying that the pro300 i have now is about the same as the rx65 i traded in...but thats not true as this new pro300 leaves my rx65 in the dust when comparing the rx65 to it even though they both have same horn, the pro 300 is much faster and better range on k band and ka bands. as far as comparing the pro500 with the other units listed above i cant say cause i didnt own them. but i would expect all the new models like you said to have similiar performances but in the past, the gx65(now pro500) wasnt quite as well as the rx65(pro300 now) on testing...is this due to the gps features slowing the unit down? i dunno. all i can swear by is a nice difference in the pro300 over the rx65 in range and quickness....i think cause no more ku band, no sws, and thus making the detector having to think less and making a faster sweep.
gps models are nice if you have alot of falsing but in past testing, the gps model gx65 performed less than the rx65 and would expect even greater results when they test the pro300. i can only think this is due to gps features...
my pro300 is left in highway mode, x band off, pop off, laser off, (have m27 blinder jammers) and i rarely come across falsing even in highway mode. (tsr enabled has cut down 90% of the falsing on k band in the city) and thus making my unit the quietest detector ive ever owned with all the range and sensitivity i got from my old rx65.
i think the gps slows down the unit somewhat and choose to live with the occasional falsing which as said above is almost never happening with the filtering the pro300 has on it.
cant wait to see if the new pro500 does better than the older gx65 in performance as this is a main reason i stayed away from a gps detector...they just seem a little slower and less range in ka bands according to radartest.com testing. looking forward to seeing some results.
all in all, i guess one needs to switch to a m3 horn to get the raw performance and range and beating the pro300 series. i am thinking of either the sti-magnum or the escort redline and want the best winshield mount and will just have to choose one eventually and will continue to watch youtube videos of these units in action...the only problem is on these videos they are not controlled environments, one never knows how they have the units set up(bands mod) so its really up to me to try and look back at testing on the older units to see where they stand as far as performance. its not easy...ive narrowed it to the redline or the sti-magnum(new one) which use the m3 horn.
i cant say enough about the crazy range i get from my pro300 in ka band and k band(the rx65 lacked alot in k band performance where the pro300 simply is outstanding k band coverage) decisions to make

so your saying that the pro300 i have now is about the same as the rx65 i traded in
The design of the PRO-300 and the RX65(M4) are "about the same." Actually, much more than "about the same," it's the same hardware with slight differences that we know about at this time:
    * Upgraded to the latest programming (we know about LIDAR updates, haven't heard of others)
    * Bubble lens for -3db gain

this new pro300 leaves my rx65 in the dust
We do see variances a lot in the finished product. Even between two RX65's, two Vector 995's, and certainly between two brands that have the same internal hardware.

is this due to the gps features slowing the unit down?
I thought we had a quote from the Escort rep that the GPS function was truly parallel, but I can't locate it at the moment. But on the results-side, I have yet to see any independent testing confirming that the GPS function degrades the detection performance.

i guess one needs to switch to a m3 horn to get the raw performance and range and beating the pro300 series.
In the Escort/Bel line, yes, I agree, the M3 is the Top Dawg.

However, I would also add the mighty V1 to the list for those looking to upgrade raw performance over an M4 and ye-olde-RX65(S7) for those driving/riding in certain rural circumstances.

not even close. the pro 300 saved me on a recent trip 7-9 times against all types of traps off axis, i/o ka shots from the fhp. i just know not having the sws and ku support makes these units awesome. i was gonna get the magnum until this trip and how well the pro300 did. the rx65 rocks too but dont believe me, get one try for free 30 days like i did and guarantee youll keep it over the rx65. the pro300 picks up ka better range, quicker, and especially the off axis performance of the s7's. wait and see on some testing and you will see. this unit rocks.
just get one and do some testing and you will be a believer like me...stop saying how they are identical cause they arent. lens, no ku, no sws obviously makes for a better faster rd unit on all bands.

Perhaps you got a hot PRO-
    Perhaps you got a bum-RX
Perhaps your new PRO- is the new lightweight-M4 we just heard about

I once had a Ruger P95 that was a real tackdriver. That model's not supposed to be, but the one I had was the weirdest thing...heh.

could be right on any one of those reasons. i guess the only way to really do anything more than talk about it is wait for some testing from the pros who do consistent testing every year and will see. I am 40, and owned rd units since i was 16 all which have been passport till 1995 then bel ever since. i have had a bum unit and know what your saying, but the rx65 was excellent..just simply way below the pro300 sensitivity and range on ka bands. (owned the 995 before the rx65-only had the rx65 for the 30 day trial and the pro300 was released so they let me exchange it) serial 633..pretty cool having one of the first 1000 units.
anyways, i hear you on the unit may very well just be freakishly good on my pro300-but there was nothing wrong with the rx65 at all i loved it and was just shocked at what a difference in the pro300. the unit is so good at off axis and range especially ka bands. they use alot of the 34.7/35.5 hand held. fhp uses some 33.8 guns along with boca raton city and palm bch county(some units) and of course laser. i just think the lens fixed off axis performance and i think without having the sws to scan along with no ku band really make the unit faster. i really hope testing shows all the pro300 units are as good as the one i got. cause your right-i know the rx65 was normal and excellent but cant say if i just got a freakish good pro300 unit or they all are this good...you are correct.
i have the same problem with the pro300 as i did with the rx65, and the 995v before that with consistent out of the blue laser falsing into sun(doesnt do at night or cloudy day)
i run the laser off since my m27 blinder jammers have me covered here. thats the only thing ive noticed wrong with bel units over the years is laser falsing...so for people without jammers this may be a nuisance. in any case i cant wait to see results from testing.
i run with x band off, laser off, tsr off, pop off, threat mode. i use spec display to see the guns used in my area then switch over to threat...i like to see how far away the cop is or thereabout and i must say the ramp up is so good(as was the rx65) with relation to signal strength and distance to the source.
and the police here love hiding behind one of the many k band speed signs and nailing you with their hand held 35.5 ka rd guns or their 34.7 ka stalker units.
i go everyday by this main road under construction and when turning left onto the road my unit is picking up the cop 35.5ka i/o from cars ahead of me(busy road) so get frequent bursts alot of the time. and it is just amazing how well the 300 doent miss a beat and love seeing the threat showing me 2 signals at once.
they sometimes usually sit with a cop behind trees and shooting laser(prolaser4 is what it looks like) and ive seen the ultralyte type guns too here in vero. now, i dont consider these legit saves since im already slowed down from the ka rd unit being fired but i let my new m27's do their thing and they dont get a reading as close as 2-300 feet as they are hitting me multiple times trying to get a reading but i shut them down within a few secs so not to draw attention. i have a real small car and a jammer next to each headlight perfectly level facing straight ahead so the entire fron of my car is covered and cut the grille and installed myself over the summer. i wish i knew how to attach a pic on this forum but theres no option to search computer picture library like on most sites or thumbnail attachment. but they look so good you cant even tell they are there. best buy wanted 250- and they were going to install them below the grille/headlight area and wouldnt have worked as well as they do so im happy my buddy did the 12volt install, i did the cutting grille/mounting each jammer. i usually turn on my laser on my pro300 when im going by this construction zone just to see if its picking up laser scatter) its about 75% of the time picking it up depending on how far away they are...the unit picks up the first round of firing from ide say 1000' but after that its hit and miss with more miss especially under 750'. then i shut the jammers down too. on my bel lp-904/lp-905/zr4shifter i used to own before switching to blinder in may 2012, i would often just get hit once and knew they had a speed reading as they didnt fire on me again in many traps.(but the escort worked very well against the prolaser earlier generation models from 2005-2008) and i got jam to gun results like i do with the m27 i now have. in palm bch county fl, they used alot of prolaser and stalker lidar. escort rocks against the prolaser but most other guns forget it)
anyways sorry to ramble on...bottom line your statement was perfectly said and will have to wait to see if all the pro300 units are as good as mine i got in some testing and really looking forward to this. have a nice safe day people.
